What a trip to nurburgring!!
What a trip to nurburgring!!
I have to to say that was the best experience of my life!
So after a 800 mile drive and arriving at the ring, I was straight out for my first lap of 10mins 35. I have never even played the computer game! Then on my 10th lap my best time was 8.56 I was really pleased with that. There was no one that pasted me on that lap! My breaks held up very well but my Tyers took a beating so I am getting new ones today! I will be doing it again very soon!
We didn't book any hotels but we found a nice b&b in cockern, witch the sat nav said a 40min drive and we wear doing it in 20mins the roads are out of this world! The locals are very friendly and the Country is very clean and tidy!

Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
Its a great place.
I am hoping to go back in September for a long weekend. Will probably do some sightseeing as well, by the look of things the track will only be open in the afternoons / evenings on the dates we are looking to travel. Hoping to go see the Porsche museum and Arnhem Bridge amongst others.

Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
How much was your insurance buddy?
Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
but it would only be 1st party insurance which on a £18k RS 4 pales into insignificance vs. Unlimited 3rd party exposure.

Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
I am not sure what you mean DK? Having read up a bit on this its pretty ambiguous with a lot of UK insurers, due to the ring being agreed upon as a prepared track. This next link muddies the water.

Here's a great thread showing what one lads rub with a barrier cost. Does peoples third party cover if they have got it cover track damages?
Has any forum member actually had an accident their that could post their experiences?

I their a way of getting comprehensive insurance for the ring both to cover all cars involved and track damage?

Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
Nice one fella, it is an amazing place, so you see what all the fuss is about. I have had some of the best times ever there, when we all headed over in convoy of RS's...ultimate.
Nice lap time too, best I got in the RS4 was 8.15, funnily enough I was faster with the seats in than it was stripped, prob due to the balance of the car

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!
It really is very simple and I don't know why there are so many questions.
You have comphrensive insurance (1st and 3rd party)
You go to the ring and have a smash.
Ring is excempt from your policy (small print) and so insurance won't cover you.
But as its a German public road, your insurance co by law has to meet 3rd party costs and recover these from you seperately.
You can get 1st party costs for the ring. That's simple, your car is worth £18k, you have a maximum value - someone can then offer you a premium in case you bin it.
But you won't be able to get 3rd party insurance for a TF session, noone in their right mind will offer you insurance based on an unlimited 3rd party claim.

Nice lap time for 1st time there, 10 laps too, very surprised the brakes held up.
Been there a good few years running in lesser cars, managed 8.40 in my 300bhp Astra GSI
Hoping to beet that in the RS next year though after some MRC help
Awsome place Germany, the roads around the ring are every bit as fun and good as the ring itself IMO
Any PIC's?

That's a quick time mate! I put brand new disc and pads before I went! I done 2 laps straight and the breaks wear smoking to be fair! But still all good!
Re: What a trip to nurburgring!!

Sounds awesome
I am going next month with a mate, really looking forward to it. Had some semi slicks fitted and some h&r springs so that the car is more prepared for the track.
