Matt paint or Matt wrap?

Hi all,

I've ordered my car in Daytona grey but love the Matt paint put not the price. My other concern was that if (when) you get a stone chip on the Matt paint how would you touch up the paint? Or is Matt touch up available? So I have got some quotes on stone chip protection for the front end and rear arches at £1400 plus vat or I can have the entire car wrapped in Matt with double layer in vulnerable areas for £1900. What are your thoughts on the Matt paint maintenance ?

Wrapp it , a neighbour has a Matt black a5 on a 13 plate and I've never seen it unwrapped tbh .... Went home last night and it was white as he has taken the wrap off !! Will say he never cleaned it much and it looked bloody awful when it was scruffy

Factory matt paint requires special care. Given most dealers can barely wash a car I think I'd steer clear.

2nd on this. When my car went into bedford Audi for a check on an oil leak I thought I had they cleaned it and guess what, covers in marks now. While I was waiting I had a walk around and they was machine polishing an S5 outside, I just laughed to myself untill I saw my car.

Get it Wrapped or speak to a detailer local to you and maybe get them to maintain the wash process etc for you.

I think wrap is the way forward, in meeting with PW Pro in Nottingham to discuss it and look at some cars he's done. I'm a but nervous as I had my turbo wrapped by magic and it looked awful.

Get it wrapped by a reputable bunch though as a mate had to repaint a very badly wrapped Ferrari thing as the wrapp pulled off some of the paint ... Granted that it had seen more paint than the forth bridge though

I'd await delivery personally.

I know the factory matt looks amazing, but, do you really want to wrap 90ks of brand new car? I suspect the wrap will not be a patch on the factory paint.

Wrapped my new turbo and it looked pretty good would have looked better had valet magic not done it! Not sure yet if I'm going down this road yet but I will post pics if/when done

Lol!! Pitta!! I'll check what the cleaning is like on the matt wrapp aswell then, can't be bothered with too much cleaning just want to drive it !

Not quite what I meant- mat paint is incredibly fragile... Some manufactures won't even warranty it.
Bird <beep> eats it alive and you can't clean it as you would normal paint.

Cheers, I did consider a matt wrap on my last car and I was told that the vinyl can tarnish quickly with the exhaust fume and would look off colour? Is this some thing your aware of ? I'm beginning to think I should stay with the shinny paint

All paint and vinyl will change over time.
I have found that soot can be harder to remove from vinyl but at least you can apply a reasonable bit of elbow grease to it. Worst case, get the affect parts re-wrapped.

Sounds like a plan! Going to try PW pro for the wrap does anyone have experience I their work?

Do you really wanna do that to brand new paint?? It'll looks pants after a few months whatever they wrap it with.

I'd say if you love the matt look that much then go the whole hog and pay for the factory option. And by the way there are now a few options on the market for matt clearbra's
