The advert says they are genuine RS4 seats but I can't see the logo in the headrests.

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but he doesn't say he has an RS4. He just said he has put his car back to standard which suggests to me has has a different car, like a Golf, and has now removed the RS4 seats and put the car back to how it originally was.

Yep they are RS4 ones. Zoomed in on the pic and can see the insignia on them. They do look highly suspect and may just be my suspicious mind but more than coincidence timing wise!

He's a Golf person, I think he has an R32 which is why he had the bucket seats, at least that's what I remember him telling me

Well we know for certain that the guy has been through three sets of recaro bucket seats now, two sets with fixed backs and one set which folded which in my head just does not add up.

And that is just the ones we know about........

The leather R32 buckets have the VW R logo embossed in them, the cloth versions were branded in the same place.

I was just about to say "I wonder why it's being scrapped - doesn't look to bad from the picture..."

I looked at that car before I bought your seats cherub, I think the seats have already been sold.

I just found out from the insurance company that a week before someone had done an experian search on my car and also tried to get in touch with the finance company! They are still investigating it which is why there is a delay on producing the valuation figures.

A couple of cars back something similar happened where they did the same (giving my mileage which is scary as it only shows for a short while when the car was switched off) and they tried to re register my car to an address up north. They actually nearly did it, only when I had a breakdown and Porsche assistance asked my home address and that differed from my actual one.

The guy on ebay sounds like he is well at it........

Might be a solution, will the insurance company then payout if this is an option?

Mike, good call on the security film on the glass, will certainly slow them down.

Not sure if you're all sorted now, but a newbie C17LJR has just shown off his lovely new Avant and it looks like he might be swapping his stock buckets for Recaro positions. Might be worth getting in touch

Sorry to here about this mate.

It's me that jonicox mentioned however the pole positions will only be in for a change now and again so the buckets will be kept safe here

Sorry to hear this too... I remmeber years ago you could get DataTag transponders for bikes that included a little one for the seat foam - you injected it into the seats. Could be worth approaching them maybe for a deal for a lot of the seat transponders as am sure we would all have 3 each & the police would no doubt like to be able to visit some of these jokes on eBay with a scanner too ?

In fact they do a saddle version that looks a possibility already - http://datatag.co.uk/shop/product.php?id_product=11

That seems like a really good idea, atleast there is some proof there for them to be tracked if they are found.

Thx C17LJR about the info on the pole position seats. I think should I get the car back I am going with comforts. Atleast for a while.

A friend at said they also have had several like this recently (and the garage the car went to said he had 5 this year). The friend at Audi said put black bathroom sealant (silicone) all over the bolts. He said any garage will know this trick and remove it if they need to but its a real pain for thieves to take that off and locate the bolts at night in a rush. He said its a real pain to get off and they just wont have the time. Said it has been a very successful trick.

It is such a shame we live in a world where you need locking nuts or transponders and other ways to ensure car seats are not stolen!!

My method next time round will be razor blades in strategic locations around the seats...after that I wish them the very best.
