Tyre size

Post by Brooner » Sat Jun 15, 2013 7:30 am

Anyone running 275 30 20 tires the reason for asking is that Michelin currently do not do our 265 30 20 yet in the pilot super sport but do do a 275 just wondering the pro's an cons of going up 10mm as not impressed with the Pzeros but could not fault the super sports on my old B7

Be interested to see what replies, if any, you get on this one.

Could it cause insurance problems?

Are there any other options at all. I couldn't see any when I last looked

I was in Audi City London speccing my new RS4 2 weeks ago and they had an RS5 convertible in here on 20in v-spoke alloys and I noticed the tyre size was 275/30/20. I can't remember the manufacturer but on looking at the online RS5 brochures 275/39/20 tyres are standard with the rotors or v-spokes. I wonder why not on the RS4? Rim sizes all seem he same.

slight deviation but still tyres
I noticed in the latest EVO magazine which arrived today that their long termer has been changed from Toyo Proxies (are they a std offering from new?) to Eagle F1s
They are now much happier with the RS4 B8

Tyre size isn't mentioned in the text, just that the Toyo Proxies T1-Rs where replaced at 13.000 mile by Tyres Nothampton ...

its only a small report on page 147 for issue 185 Aug '13, if you want to check it out in the library AKA W.H.Smiths

The summary: The Eagle F1s allow the car to move around much more freely and now feels much more nimble down tight, bumpy B-roads. Hurrah!

Looking thru a few back issues when they where looking at the knocking from teh suspension.. I think they are running 19s not 20s

So 265/35 19 rather than 265/30 20 which are available in Goodyear Eagle F1s

I ran Eagle F1 on my BMW335D after I binned the useless runflats and they where fine, never noticed the snow, maybe I didn't encounter any in that period... but I couldn't get those when they where replaced and but Michelin PS3 on, and got stuck twice on gentle slopes in mild slush. I had had it 3.5years and fancied a change, so that was teh excuse for the RS4.

I went to test a S4 avant (B8) and they had just taken in a one owner minty 13k mile Rs4 ... done deal after a test drive

now toying with a RS4 B8 as I really can't think of anything else I fancy

Offshore or i would have bought a copy
but the most of us that have or had a B7 RS4 use Goodyear or Michelin on them my last set on the B7 were super sports couldn't fault them on the wet or dry and i would like to replace the hopeless P zeros that have been <beep> on all my RS4's so far why Audi persist on using them i don't know with the super sports or Eagle F1's as as second choice

not a fan of apple so I don’t suckle at the apple teat

never tried the Rossos as i was so un impressed with the P Zeros after an email to Michelin they do confirm they will make the 265 30 20" fitment will be made but no time scale as to when they will be on sale so with changing to winter tyres in November my Perrelis should last till then and hope fully by next year they will be availible or i look more at the 275 30 20" but i'll see if there is any feed back from |the RS5 boys on that

Knowing me I'm probably being thick, but from what I can see, MPS are available in 265/30/20/94ZR(Y):
