Just got a good deal on rear discs for the B7

Post by TerryN » Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:04 pm

All,

Just thought I let you know I just got a pair of rear discs from Eurocar parts. They only advertise one side (right) on the website, so i called my local branch and Micky was really helpful. I also got him to agree the 'Parts25' code for a discount.

All in - £420.00 the pair. Picked up and in my clammy-mits.

Nice job - result - I paid £590 for mine from Stoke Audi a while back so you got yourself a real bargain!

Are they "genuine" Audi parts? I think the OEM is Brembo.

Actually, considering how many problems people claim to have with warping on "genuine" disks, probably worth trying another manufacturer!

*bump

Euro just quoted me 570 all in (discs and pads). Just want to double check - do Euro supply OE ("Genuine Audi" blah blah) items or are they alternatives?
Stoke Audi parts was next best for a few tenners more.

Also, worth skimming the rears or just not worth it overall? I think I know the answer, but the less subjectivity / value judgement the better :)

Skim them if you have what I had rust damage, if it is because of lipping them you need new discs as the are worn.

Get them skimmed if they are near or on wear limit. I just had my fronts done for £45 each side. Like new :)

Anyone know whether ECP supplies OE parts? If they are the same things, just without an Audi Sticker, that's where I'm buying from.

Pagid make Audi OE pads, that's why they've got their name on them - the 8E0 part number on the pad shows it's an Audi part.

That's why I'd sooner pay £80 for a Pagid pad that comes in a Pagid box, rather than £250 for a Pagid pad in an Audi box!
