My First RS6

Hi everyone,
Always fancied a RS6 so swapped this for one.

Transit 'Cosworth'.
Mag Featured, Been cosworth powered from 18 mths old, Imperial Blue with full body kit.Twin headlamps, M3 mirrors.Interior includes 6 Recaro Seats Each one with its own neon detail light ,Webasto Blue, Full Electric Sunroof,Ford racing gauges.Front DVD/ TV,3 rear screens in back of headrests Each seat with it own headphone jack.Full Alpine Stereo System with Dvd Changer, amps and 10 ! speakers, 5 12v output sockets.Electric tinted windows.Central locking on all doors up and over rear door. tinted side windows. Clifford insurance approved alam with full closure, remote start etc
19inch Audi Rs6 wheels, with toyo 235 35 19's.
AP Racing 4pot brakes 360mm front 320 rear.
5 linked rear syspension fully adjustable, turreted with gaz racing shocks (platform adjustable) poly bushed all round with M20 rosejoints, front legs top adjustable & platorm adjustable custom made by Gaz. lowered all round by 7-8". Don`t confuse this with a lowered transit, with this expensive setup it handles very, very well
4inch stainless steel exhaust.
Engine: Cosworth 2.4 fully rebuilt 3000 Miles Ago with 200 Long Studded Burton block ,low comp pistons,Escort head with vernier pulleys.T35 turbo, 8 injector manifold with dark green injecters ,3 bar map sensor, live mapped,polished engine components,blue samco hoses.Breather tank 500 intercooler dash mounted adjustable boost, genuine 370 hp. *
Full transit 5 speed box with cosworth internals.AP clutch .One off Transit diff made for the vehicle. 2 Brand new Bosch batterys.
64000 miles mot and tax.
Cambelt Changed at 63000 miles
Just changed oil and filter.

On the way to Luton in the Transworth to see the RS6 for a possible swap, Dartford toll barriers was next to 2 guys in a TVR convertible, we both paid our fee at same time and barrier opened, TVR gave it large, so i put my foot down in Transworth side by side and they couldn`t get away, they was proper shocked :bowdown: . all the way through the tunnel the V8 TVR was overcome with the noice of the Transworth on boost.
Was my favourite time with the Transworth.
Anyways back to the RS, arrived at luton, RS6 2003 was in excellent condition 77k miles, Gearbox changed under 10k ago all 4 corners drc changed 10k ago loads of history nice straight car, gave RS a quick check over shocks looked fine, gearbox worked as it should.
So deal was done, straight swap.
Second time i drove it pulled up at my old mans and the rear offside shock decided to leak all it fluid out of banjo bolt, at base of shock took it to my local garage who tighned it as a favour they owed me and it seemed to stop, but was probaly empty by this time, they advised needs checking over properly.
So booked car in with audi, explained to them shock was leaking fluid from banjo bolt, so could they check and tightnen and recharge system.
Explained to them the DRC :assflash: had been changed 10k ago and did not want to start spending money on it if it was all going to start failing..no said the technician the DRC :assflash: is much better than a bilestein system let us sort it for you.
Dropped car off at Coulsdon Audi, walked into showroom,thought bollocks :shock: this looks proper expensive for a ten year old car..no no said the service guy :twisted: we are very competetive, so i showed him some qoutes for a cambelt change on car and he started banging on about how good the service was from Audi and any work you have done at Audi you have peace and mind if you need to bring car back if there are any problems.
They agreed to match price after some moaning from therselves, for cambelt change as i was a new (sucker) customer.
They called to say DRC :assflash: Had been recharged and checked for leaks and everything was fine, £200 please.
So next morning i checked and could see a little fluid still so i cleaned area around bottom of shock, this should have been done by audi :bash: , but was not as there was loads of gunk dirt etc. Placed a container under shock, when i returned from work and guess what yep still leaking.
So contacted Audi again, they was not as pleased to hear from me as much as they was the first time lol, explained to them that the leak was still there, they then started backtracking saying they just recharged system and left it to me to monitor if it leaked again :bash: .

So booked car in for second visit to check leaking shock :roll: .
They said the banjo bolt was pitted and car needed a brand new shock and recharge £640 please. Nearly choked on subway sandwich :boohoo:
Cant belive they could not get a new banjo bolt and olive or skim the pits out to make smooth.
So told them i had already told you where the leak was, and you just recharged system and left me to monitor it so was not willing to pay for a recharge again, after a little moaning he knocked off £100, i said but the recharge was £200 before, he said thats all they could do.
So car is now being done.

£200 First visit.
£540 Secondvisit.
SO £740 for one shock :drink:
Love the RS6 But my first trip to the dealers has not been a good experience.

Welcome and FON

Slightly confused - in one place you say DRC changed 10K ago but it would appear that you still have DRC. In which case I am guessing that the DRC unit is less than two years old, and so should be covered by the Audi parts guarantee.....

Also recommend you take the car over to Camberley in future - they are the only dealer who seem to be able to do DRC work reliably

You'll get loads of nay-sayers on here telling you to bin the DRC, but if its fitted correctly its very reliable and has great handling, especially if yo add the Hotchkis ARB's which reduce the understeer and at the same time take load off the DRC units!

DRC all replaced 10k ago, but is now over 2 years ago, car has not done much mileage in the last few years.

Welcome to RS6 ownership, sounds like the almost normal baptism!

Good luck with the DRC, always a lottery and great when it works, but that money spent would have got you a fair way towards binning it and more importantly having peace of mind.

Going to sort the DRC first, then cambelt change as its due soon, and audi has matched AMD`s, price so will get it done at audi.
When everything is ok with suspension, probaly new arb`s, cambelt service, and when car is in tip top condition. Pre cats gutted and remap at AMD.
Full detail to be done by myself with a DA polisher as paintwork has minimal swirls and is in excellent condition
Then some 8 or 10mm spacers on hubs, slight tint on windows allround, and all alloy trim except mirrors painted black inc wheels.
Kids hate car, but they will rarely go in it as its just a toy for myself and they said i should wrap it matt back, but what do they know.

Sounds familiar, my kids (4 and 6) hold their hands on their ears when i start it...and reminds me not to accelerate fast...theyre sitting in the back like zombies, like: ''dont hit that pedal dad, we will pee in your car'', but, they shout out loud when they see another Audi:)

Welcome.

My RS6 came with Bilstein coil-overs installed. I would probably count this as a blessing but they are a tad firm. It does handle very well though.

I'd be interested to drive a standard RS6 with working DRC to compare.
