DRC and Camberley Audi

Post by Lakers » Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:00 pm

Had the car for a little over a year and 10k trouble free miles, an unmodified 07 Daytona Avant with 80k and the dreaded DRC failure has finally happened. A little research and thanks to this forum, I went to Rob and Camberley Audi, (in preference to my local main dealer in Basingstoke where I last got it serviced) and received the excellent and knowledgable service reported by many in previous posts. Rob managed to secure £300 goodwill against 2 failed shocks, so good news, if you have an Audi full-service history then it appears that Audi are still prepared to help, Rob indicated he could have got more if the mileage was lower. Unfortunately for bank balance both hydraulic pipes had seized to the shocks also required replacement which wiped out the effect of the goodwill - such is life. At least the other 2 shocks checked out fine so should be DRC problem free for a while now and the car is back to its usual self ie brings a smile every time I drive it. I also got a Technician's comment of "nice example of RS4" on the paperwork and Rob said the guys don't give those out lightly so left feeling surprising smug given the hit I had just taken on the c card. Maybe that was the idea to cushion the blow! Anyhow, a recommendation to add to the collection for Camberley Audi.

Welcome to the forum...and FON! :D

Not seen your car around Basingstoke (I work there) but will keep an eye out for you... :bigwave:

You're definitely better off sticking with Camberley - I made the mistake of taking my B7 to Basingstoke Audi once and they didn't have a clue. Rob and the techs at Camberley know they're stuff and as you've found out they try to get goodwill where other dealers don't. I always go back to Camberley now rather than Basingstoke...

+1 I live in Southampton but always take mine to Rob at Camberley - He managed to secure me 50% goodwill on a job last year which saved me hundreds! top bloke and seems genuinely honest about what does and doesn't need doing.

Yes they are...which makes it all the more ridiculous that Basingstoke's service dept are so poor and Camberley's are so good.

I took my B7 in with leaking shocks, but Basingstoke appeared not to know what DRC was, let alone know of the Audi UK directive re goodwill warranty. They eventually managed to quote me for replacing my leaking shocks, but as they knew nothing about DRC they didn't know that the suspension system needed to be re-pressurised. And they cocked up the quote - ended up quoting me for an A6! And to top it all, they insisted on referring to my car as an A4...only a small thing but it really annoys me when Audi service personnel don't know the Audi models. An RS4 is not just a standard A4! :audibash:

In stark contrast, I spoke to the service manager at Camberley and despite never having used them before they agreed to replace 3 leaking shocks FOC as long as my car had FASH. They had the car 2 days, replaced the 3 shocks, re-pressurised the system and it didn't cost me a penny. Since then have built up a good relationship with Camberley and Rob in particular, and won't take my car to Basingstoke again even though it's much closer for me.
