What is this?
Re: What is this?
make sure the level is upto full then if it is then i would say maybe the cap for the reservoir needs replacing for cheapest starting point as they have a float in them to let you know when the level is low by indicating the light you say you can see!

Re: What is this?
the oil res cap doesn't have a float on mine, maybe the grill thing does since i cant seem to get it out.
Oil level is at the joint of the res. I originally thought it was the oil since how bloody random the light was

Re: What is this?
He meant the brake fluid reservoir not the oil. I think it's right at the back of the engine bay roughly in the middle with a yellow cap.Andyy wrote:the oil res cap doesn't have a float on mine, maybe the grill thing does since i cant seem to get it out.

Re: What is this?
That's what i meant lol
Re: What is this?
Yeah, the cap has nothing attached to mine but like the window washer fluid it has a grill in it guessing that's what the float is attached to
Re: What is this?
I just looked at mine. Yes, you're quite right there is no float attached to the lid and when you open it all you can see is a filter. No wires visible from the top either as I have seen on previous cars.
Re: What is this?
there isnt indeed it was off the top of my head! usually standard on cars must be a different way of it knowing on our cars but would put my money on that as im sure it would be a different light for sensor related issues at the pads?

Re: What is this?
yeah pad sensor would be the brake pad wear light i think, which should be fine since i had a full service, all pads and disks changed by MRC in January this year, they would have told me about any problems in the area. Which they did with my suspension
Going to book it in somewhere tomorrow, fingers crossed they'll just plug it in and an error code will tell us the problem. I tried some universal code reader my dad has but that came up 0 error codes so, i'm not sure if they code reader's <beep> or no codes.
I noticed some people on rs6 that had a similar problem that was the brake switch, but it's a different car so again idk
But luckily all the suggestions so far, none are looking that expensive

Re: What is this?
Seeing that you went to MRC for the discs and pads is it not worth a trip back there to see if they can sort the problem?
They know what they are doing with these cars.

Re: What is this?
Again, cheers all for the help and support. Going to ring MRC tomorrow see what's said and where to go from there.
