Do Audi do a carbon clean?

Post by RichT128 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 11:18 pm

I want to get a carbon clean done on my rs4, do Audi offer it/ what does it cost? Probably controversially, I have a great relationship with listers audi service centre in Birmingham (Anyone dealing with them, ask for Dave Lea) and they look after my car so would prefer to use them (also more convenient), but if they don't do it MRC/ AMD obviously seem highly recommended so also interested on views.

JackS4 got his done by Audi in Dublin. Not sure of the cost of it.

I went to MRC to get mine done...plus some other bits.

Iirc don't audi use walnut shells and just blast it a bit.
Not quite the same a manual clean but quick.

Still want somebody to try the dry ice blasting :)

I thought I read that Audi dont do the cleaning themselves in house rather remove all effected parts and send them off to be cleaned by say a local engineering company?

I'm only aware of BMW/Mini using crushed walnut shells in house.

ah yeah - might be BMW.
Problem is removing the cylinder head is an engine out job iirc.

Audi Stratford did mine about 5 months ago, fairly new technology I believe, Intake manifold is removed and chambers and valves cleaned in place with a special machine. Did a good job for me, car was a vast improvement and also sounded a lot different once it was done. I had it done after the emmisions light came on and the diagnostics by Audi was to have it decarbonised. Pleased with both the customer service and result, I prefer Stratford Audi as the service manager tells you as it is. Did not have the same experience with Audi Birmingham, spun me a right old story about front brake pads and the reason for scoring on the discs, shame because I was impressed with them up to that point, not been back since and that was 3 years ago.
