Haldex survived, prop shaft not so lucky. Feedback is that prop bearings (not sure which end) were somewhat of a mess, they have some nice pictures for the scrap book apparently.

Prop replaced in its entirety....no fault codes thrown by the Haldex so all good. It's being put down to a duff bearing.

Brake judder being investigated this afternoon, assuming straight forward fix, should pick it up tomorrow PM.

Thanks for the update and good news then ( I presume ?) ... sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Not the first one to do this but it's been mostly modified cars that have been using launch control a lot

Glad it's a pretty straight forward fix

The inside of my engine after it chewed up the swirl valves and associated bits has defiantly made me value my 5yr warranty

What's the going rate for a new engine and replacement labour at a main dealers ?

Update:

Got the car back today, had a good chat with my Master Tech; it was the centre bearing that let go, it had essentially shot gunned the bearings into the outer casing....looked pretty viscous TBH especially considering that the explosion had taken place that close to me arse!

The prop was sat in the wood shipping crate that the replacement had come in ready to go back to Germany, the bearing race was effectively destroyed however the outer casing had managed to contain the carnage, he did though say that it pretty much fell apart with only the lightest of prods in situ - will ask if I can get hold of the pics they took and post them up.

The prop was in stock in the UK...read into that what you will :-/

A key point he made was that the new prop had a redesigned bearing race and outer sleeve...the entire union being slightly beefier.

Brake wise, had run out of over a mm on both front disks; subsequently both pads and disks were replaced on each side. Two 60mph to 10mph braking runs done by him to initiate bedding in, I did another 8 on the way home. They now feel spot on.

The new material highlighted that the first set had actually deteriorated performance wise significantly in terms of initial take up...

There was no rectification of the squeal issue, just straight replacement of stock items. The car is though registered as having the squeal issue, will report back if it resurfaces.

Overall I continue to be extremely satisfied with my Audi customer service experience....the baby RS has lost none of its shine because of the above, in fact in many ways, it has endeared me to it a little more; feels like it is developing its own personality.
