Quick Sat Nav question

Had to do a 200 mile round trip today so spent some time playing with the Sat Nav in my car. For the life of me I cant seem to work out what surely is a simple thing !!

All I want to do is to store a location as a favourite so that I can select it in the future. I can sort of see how that works but whenever I try it the car just says that it has saved my current location under the name I input (which is no good if thats the location i dont want to save !). Can I not just setup a location and then enter the address ? So for example sitting at my house in the car could I not add my work address and then click save as favourite ?
