Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
I'm toying with the idea of changing the steering wheel although a lot of people hate that its plastic, I think the silver bit at the bottom of the wheel makes it stand out form all the other flat bottom wheels that all Audis have now. So what you managed to do is keep its identity with the colour but get rid of the cheap plasticness,
Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
Funny I was first looking through the pics and thinking the bottom part of the wheel needed a dressing. Sure enough its in the works!
Car looks great. Is the oe rs4 flat bottomed wheel thicker than the other rs wheels (rs6, Rs7, rs5 etc)? Looks nice and beefy.

Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
Re-trimmed wheels often end up thicker than OEM wheels as they normally trim over the original leather.
Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
That's exactly how I felt. Glen at Revolution re-trimmed his whole steering wheel with perforated leather, which looks good and I have toyed with that idea, but as you've said, seems to have lost its identity. Also, trimming over the plastic looked a bit odd close up.MikeFish wrote:I'm toying with the idea of changing the steering wheel although a lot of people hate that its plastic, I think the silver bit at the bottom of the wheel makes it stand out form all the other flat bottom wheels that all Audis have now. Actually, I didn't realise this until it was done and I was quite miffed at first as I wanted the OE look, but now it's growing on me.MikeFish wrote:Re-trimmed wheels often end up thicker than OEM wheels as they normally trim over the original leather.

Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
Good spot. I had a secondhand set of Audi Exclusive door cards re-trimmed, which was oringinally come with black leather. In fact, everything that has been re-trimmed are not original to my car.

Re: Carbonated and Re-trimmed Interior
I had multi-function in my S3, and now I miss it in the RS. I'm planning on getting a TT-RS wheel fitted in the next few months so I keep the chunky rim of the RS wheel but also get the functions rather than just DIS +/- and Sport mode buttons.
