Whats wrong with cab's?

Post by ChrisO » Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:59 pm

Hi all, as some of you may know, I'm on the hunt for an RS4. But as I'm away all I can do is admire the ones online until I'm home. One thing I've noticed though is that the cabs all seem to be a lot cheaper than saloons. Personally I would have a cab. I'd have an A4 cab, but not an RS. Are they much different, or is it just because they're out of season??

Ta

There is nothing wrong with them. They are cheaper so the hairdressers that buy them can afford them.

Whats wrong with cab's?

Number of reasons

1. Yes out of season
2. They are gay.
3. They are wobbly and heavier so slower and poorer performance.
4. They are gay.

But I will be in the market for one, prob is 90% are black and 60% don't have buckets....and 50% have been raped...so by my maths I've got a choice of about 1% at any one time.

Why do I want one?

The NOISE!!!

There is nothing like a non res Milltek howling through the pitch black winters night with the roof down!

They also look great and a 400PS 4 seater V8 cabriolet 4WD is a very rare combo ... Name me another for £20k

And the RS 5 cabrio is 1,900kgs!!! WTF!!

The Cab was also still being produced after the Saloon and Avant had stopped, so you will get newer models, hence higher price (generally).

The Cab as stated above is heavier due to reinforced chassis and A-Frame. It also does not share the same body panels. The bonnet and wings are steel and not Aluminium.

It also has a different dash (from the B6 irrc).

But it is a nice looking high performance cab.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

You're gay??

Yer the dash is out of the B6, I'm not really a fan. I bet the exhaust does sound amazballs with the roof down though, I've got a 1977 MGB roadster and I love the exhaust note on that with the hood down, and it has a teeny tiny engine!

The dash is not from a B6.

The cab B6/B7 dash is unique to the cab.

For what it is, I think the B7 cab is great.

Thought I saw a bumper Sticker in the RS246 Shop saying 'No hairdressing materials are kept in this vehicle overnight'.

See some facts from our last ride:

http://youtu.be/TrwHnPzSw2Q

There is no significant difference in the performance Saloon/Cab. The sequence on the motorway shows acceleration from 100 to ~280 km/h and the roof of the cab was open! After that ride indeed you will need a hairdresser.
