Tbh I wouldn't use the price quoted in Autotrader as much more than an idea of a wide price range. Two factors to bear in mind 1) People rarely (or probably shoudn't) pay the list price that a used vehicle is advertised for by a trader, they're often priced accepting they'll negotiate down, and 2) The urgency of the seller to sell. If you're not in a rush to sell then you could hang on and see if you can get the price you want.

You don't know until you try, but you as the seller must be confident about your assessment of its value - nobody will pay more than *you* believe it's worth :)

I've been looking at a lot of RS4 adverts over the past few weeks and I have to agree that £19k seems more accurate for this one.

Thanks for all your advice guys. Anyone with genuine interest should get in touch with an offer. If 19k is the 'going' rate at the moment then I'm sure we can come to some sort of deal.

Martin, descibe the car.
Is it faultless, immaculate no swirls paintwork?
Are the discs/pads worn?
Stone chips?
Wear on drivers seat?
As a starting point how many owners, dates and mileages of services etc etc. Not being rude but rocket science it aint!

A few months back a Daytonna sold on here with highish mileage and the owner gave a detailed write up on his car, it was very honest and he took some fantastic pics. If you want to sell it you have to sell it!

Hi Martin,

I sold my June (I think) 07 Mug Blue 55k miles for £20250. Thought I'd get £23k but started at £22k, dropped it to £21k after a week and got an offer of £20,250. This was about 2months ago so hopefully it helps you gauge what they're going for.

I wouldn't bother looking at what they're on Autotrader and Pistonheads for as many take months to go as they're priced too high. Those not in the know I.e. non forum types will tend to go for those from traders with many of them selling dogs ridiculously low.

I'd say £18/£19k for yours BUT the new engine is surely worth a premium of another £2k or so - no science behind the last bit, just a gut feel.

GLWS!

This is a forum so the opinions are not always agenda-free. Not a direct comparison, but I sold my 07 avant with 49k on the clock in Dec (the doldrums) for 23k

If its being sold with warranty, you're in a great position. Don't get raped & good luck

Edit: Forgot to mention it sold in 1 pheads advert cycle. Get a good ad up at a fair price & you should be fine

Oh, yeah, forgot to say. Whatever you do, make sure you get something in writing from the dealer to confirm the warranty on the new engine. Don't accept the car/sign for it without it.

Hi Martin,

Just read your thread, you've had an interesting journey!

Has the car sold yet? Do you have any new pics?

I may be in the market for an RS in the next few days, depends if I sell my R32 to a fella that wants it, for the money I want (no the money I need!).

Regards
