What changed ... ?

Post by andymc » Sat Feb 02, 2013 5:34 pm

Howdy All ...

I currently have an RS4 (B7) and am thinking about an RS5. My dllema is whether to wait 6 months for the 2012 facelift to drop into my price range or go for a pre-facelift. The decision point is around 'what has changed'.

Now I've read most of the websites and they talk about external/internal changes (none of which would convince me to go for the newer version over the older one). What I am really looking for is what's changed from the technology point of view. I've check out the options on the Audi website and I can see things like: Dynamic Steering, DRC, dual clutch and I have no idea if they are new.

So, can anybody help me understand the tech changes please?

fanking you ...

The main changes as far as I know are with the exception of the facelift cosmetics (new highlights etc) are;

Revised suspension setup
New wave disc brakes
Revised drive select selection on dash
Stronic gearbox has the option to select sport mode without having to select dynamic mode in drive select
Most importantly it's has a flat bottom steering wheel!!!!!

For my two pence I would wait for the facelift to hit your target price.

I had two pre facelift cars and couldn't fault neither of them but I stand by my previous statement as the revision have supposed to make the car better.

Hope that's helped :beerchug:

As above, from what I've read, I would think hold out for a FL

The suspension changes are among the most important bits to make it a better car which is why the RS4 seems to have received a better reception than the 'original' RS5
Currently :
Porsche 992S
Porsche Cayenne GTS
Porsche GT4 RS
Lotus Exige V6 ( tuned to c430bhp)
Seat Ibiza excellence Lux!

Ex
2017 AMG E class wagon
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)

mid-2012 cars are up at dealers for £52-54k......that's quite a saving on what would be a £62-63k car when new.

Andy

When you get one and have had it for a while can you do a comparison B7 RS4 vs RS5. Would be interested to get your thoughts

Good luck with your search- hope you find the one you want

Did you not mean shame about the seats??? 7.5k in 13 months is lower than average.

No, it was actually registered in June 2012 so average mileage in relation in age (7 months). It was more in comparision to the other facelift models for sale on the Audi Used locator. I didn't think the interior was too bad, not my taste but better than some and I would think a bugger to clean.
