now you have got 10,000 miles of running in to do, no full revs for you. :( i remember running mine in, seemed to take forever :bigblink:
The running in will be for someone else, the car will be going up for sale when I get it back unfortunately :(
I imagine they'll be plenty of lurkers waiting for this to hit the forecourt, what with the new engine.

Well done !

That’s no problem Martin I’m glad to give you the good news finally and get your beautiful RS4 back on the road as soon as we can.

Afternoon Andy,

That is absolutely amazing news! Thank you so much for all your hard work throughout this lengthy process and apologies if I've been really persistent. Looking forward to having my car back in the not too distant future.

Well done for getting the right result.

Push them for replacing clutch and also a 2 year warranty on the engine too. I know someone who had an engine replacement and managed to get this so he effectively had 5 years warranty on the car from new and a brand new clutch/flywheel (car had done 30k miles at the time).

Don't Audi do 2yrs on parts anyway?

I'd be pushing them for an extended warranty on the whole car bearing in mind how they've strung this out.

Yes... but only on parts you buy (or contribute to).
So if the entire engine is replaced free of charge under warranty then you only get the balance of the warranty (if any remaining).

For example:
Car with three year warranty.
Engine explodes in fiery death 2 years and 344 days into the warranty.
New engine fitted and say it takes two weeks to fit.
Then the warranty on the new engine will be the balance... or 6 days.

Although as the OP is selling the car it may not be relevant, but I would strongly advise anybody in a similar position to contribute a token amount (only has to be a small amount) to the repair. This trips the part warranty.

However the labour/fitting should be covered so if the engine is installed incorrectly then this is a separate issue.

If I were a potential buyer of a car with a new engine, I'd want to know it was under warranty - Martin, I'd definitely push for that bearing in mind the aggro you've had.

Agreed. Might be worth offering to pay for one of the fuel lines - that would probably trip it...

The value of the warranty is the balance of the price I paid for the car which will leave IMO a reasonable amount outstanding, approx one third of the full value. However, that will expire in August unless the potential new buyer decides to extend the warranty further.
