If ones wants to be accurate you also need to adjust prices for inflation... Assuming 2 percent for each year since 2006 (lower than actual) the £50k is now £57k and £70k is now £80k so all in all I think the pricing isn't out of order and I believe VAT also went up since 2006 explaining part of the difference.

+1

I've just used an inflation calculator and £53,000 in March 2006 is now £66,371 in real terms as the total cost of inflation over this period is 25.2%. I'm not making this up these are actual figures so in real terms the true costs I would think are slightly less now.

I've got a funny feeling that the popularity of the B8 will significantly improve once they hit the £35-£40k on the used market :bigblink:

How... On Earth... Did you get to £26,000 in options???

Ceramics must be on that list. Etc. I think you're doing your best to prove a point about price but that's no where near reasonable.

A base model b7 with nav and 19s (which are now standard on b8) and buckets and a few other options was approaching £60,000, and for about £62,000-65,000 you can have a very nicely equipped b8.

The rs5 in the us is about $78,000 loaded... Which is o ly about $5,000 more than a similarly equipped b7 was.

Remember 19's were standard in the uk.

I think the problem is that the only option you really needed on the b7 was the tech pack and you'd have a sorted car.

On the b8- drc and buckets seats not standard. These alone are more than the tech pack (and I bet most people still upgrade the standard b8 with a tech pack).

Whilst inflation works one way (I make it 62k not 66k though) costs would have fallen. Esp since I believe the b8 rolls off the standard production line and not a tuning house.

For those of you moaning about the price in the UK the bog standard spec RS4 in little old NZ is...deep breath......£87k

We have a lower rate of VAT and no amount of 'shipping' and 'small market' excuses that price.

On a brighter note I have been rung twice to see if I want a test drive and I didnt even buy my Audi in NZ! :biggrin2:

I noticed this is on the configurator but not in the brochure on the Audi website.

So for those of us waiting for our cars that haven't been built yet should we get the car at the reduced price or do I need to have a visit to the dealer to discuss?

Yes it should just be reduced price

It was included in the price on my order anyway.

You think that is steep? Spare a thought for me, who has one on order here in Hong Kong. The standard price here is HK$1.32M. I added reversing camera and matt chrome in it and came to be around 1.35M which is roughly about £110K....

The standard specs though is quite comprehensive though with almost everything thrown in but still....
