It wasn't extra, it was standard.

Just been through the configurator to build the spec that I would be interested in buying...

Other than buckets I don't think there's much in it overall - other than electric adjustment on the super sports (which is standard), PetrolDave's right re things that are now extras, but there are lots of things that are now standard that were previously extras, such as satnav, adaptive xenons, auto dimming mirror, light & rain sensors, AMI & Bluetooth. Personally the things that I'd miss most that were standard on the B7 are heated seats and metallic / pearl paint, but others may not be bothered.

For those (like me :bigblink: ) that aren't blessed with a slim enough build to fit into buckets, I reckon it's swings and roundabouts...

I stand corrected! When I was ordering mine it came out to 62k and I felt like I wasn't excluding any options that I would have liked other than the ceramics had they been cheaper but everybody has their own wishes!

What a ridiculous amount of options. Are you just trying to make a point? There is no need for 26k in options.

Dave - I thought only this morning you said you didn't like the B8?... whatever you've spec'd for £80k must be rather nice though, so if you go off it, PM me in 6 months and I'll take it off your hands, allowing for big initial depreciation and all that! :biggrin3:

I was going to say !

Mine has most things that most people would want (not buckets or ceramics, the latter I think are a waste) like ecav's and was £64k so why anybody would go to £81k!?

26k of options sounds crazy, however, its easy to build your ideal spec and before you know it you have a heavily loaded car and a empty wallet.

The B7 RS4 was so good out of the box it hardly required any extras, I think mine only had 3 options.

Like anything it is what people are willing to pay

I'm new to the RS brand so I can't compare to the old car and compare relative values.

I knew what I wanted so that is what it cost and there was a £40k cost to change from the X5

I did however whilst waiting to see if this was going to be launched wonder what I would get if it didn't come. I did think about the latest 535bmw but in the similar vain to what some of you guys were suggesting, I didn't see it as worth the extra over either my old 535 or the X5 I had at the time.

Just out of interest I went through the B7 catalogue yesterday to see what I would have found if I'd done a factory order 5 years ago and got trigger happy with the options.... and I got to north of £70k! And that was back in the day when Audi wouldn't sell you stuff like adaptive cruise, sports 'zorst and lane assist, at least not on the B7 anyway

I don't think much has changed - if you want to blow some cash, factory order a German car and get busy with the options!
