MTM lowering springs.
MTM lowering springs.
Thinking of lowering the car a bit about 10-15mm all round so want to see if anyone has fitted the MTM kit. According to Kim@QST, he has fitted a number of them and all were happy with the result.
Thanks in advance.

Re: MTM lowering springs.
Had a really long conversation with Kim about the pro's and con's and the way that the MTM springs ( KW) works in conjunction with the stock DRC. The springs are uprated in stiffness and are progressive coiled so the ride quality will not suffer much so long you don't go mad dropping the car to the ground. He recommends 15mm drop all round to give it that low ride look yet retain the stock dampers travel. With the slight lower stance you will induce a bit of negative camber which is a plus not only will sharpen your steering response, more clearance inside the arch and ultimately be more taught going round corners with the lower center gravity.
He also guaranteed that there won't be any rubbing if I don't drop the car more than 15mm even with my 22" wheels.
Fitting takes 5 hours to complete with the check of rear wheels geometry. The fronts have fixed points so no geometry checks are done. All four corners will be measured and leveled to the reduction ride height.

Re: MTM lowering springs.
Instresting about the rubbing issue, my fronts rub slightly on speed bumps etc as I'm running 8mm spacers.
Any info whether you can run spacers with a drop?

Re: MTM lowering springs.
The KW (MTM) springs are 800 euros. Worth asking Grizz how much for the ones straight from KW, without the MTM branding. Probably cheaper and he supplies them. I'd be leaving the DRC alone if I had Audi warranty due to the DRC horror stories, ok, not so much on the C6 but still.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Even if they are slightly cheaper, I'll do more than the difference in petrol going to Grizz's..Amar wrote:The KW (MTM) springs are 800 euros. Emmmmm, I've bought Bretto's car...bam_bam wrote:classba wrote:...even with my 22" wheels.

Re: MTM lowering springs.
Chris, really surprised they rub at the front because the front is taller than the rear (check it out). Kim mentioned that there's a screw somewhere inside the front arch that can be removed to eliminate rubbing.RS6chris! wrote:Instresting about the rubbing issue, my fronts rub slightly on speed bumps etc as I'm running 8mm spacers.

Yes there's a screw in the middle of the arch at the top?...didn't dare take it out on case something drops off!!!

Booked the car in with Kim next week if the weather permits... aiming to drop her by 25mm and go from there.
Can't bloody wait.

Re: MTM lowering springs.
Why are no geometry checks done at the front? I appreciate that camber at the front cannot be adjusted, but toe can be adjusted and the toe values will be affected by the drop in ride height so should be checked that they remain in tolerance and if necessary adjusted n my view....classba wrote:Had a really long conversation with Kim about the pro's and con's and the way that the MTM springs ( KW) works in conjunction with the stock DRC. Just FYI too - excessive negative camber is not a good thing to have if you want your tyres to last

Re: MTM lowering springs.
I'm running kw adjustable springs heard their similar to the mtm spring kit and 25mm drop will rub slightly on lock up front and slightly on the back too with couple of people on board or over speed bumps etc, mines about 23mm lower if I remember and still slight rubbing need to find this screw up front and lose itclassba wrote:Booked the car in with Kim next week if the weather permits... aiming to drop her by 25mm and go from there.

Can't bloody wait.. That's on std 20's 5 spoke btw.
Beefy, MTM=KW they're the same. Thanks for the heads up. I'm on 22" so lets see how much I can lower without rubbing.
Do you find the springs much harder than stock and has the handling improved?,
Cheers fella.

Re: MTM lowering springs.
No worries chap, heard they were the same didn't know if mtm had there own spring rates or something though lol, and I find less body roll round faster motorway speeds sweeping corners, changes direction nicer at these speeds, still feel the weight of the nose in sharp 90 degree residential roads type corners but thats just shear inertia of the big girl I'd imagine ha ha, I'm in dynamic most the time anyway but still like to switch around with active suspension systems keeps em guessing, but ride comfort is excellent in my opinion too can't fault them really fella! Hope it helps, looks million times better too!
