If it's that easy to remove the door trim, then I'll have a crack at this shortly.

Not sure I'll know what I'm looking at once it's off though. Will probably check everything is done up properly and lube up any parts which are supposed to move.

Not had precisely your symptoms, but I have had to have a door lock replaced on both of mine - had one done last night! New lock is £123 and about an hour to fit. In both cases it was the internal latch mechanism that was basically worn out.
Slightly different but my passenger door lock is pretty much worn and keeps bouncing off the latch and needs replacing. Where did you get the lock done on yours Dave?

Door card does come off really easily. I couldn't see anything broken or loose in there. Squirted a bit more lube around the mechanism while I had access but this didn't seem to cure the problem.

Put up with it for a while but was becoming more of a constant problem rather than intermittent.

Got the Audi dealers to fit a new lock mechanism the other day and it has been fine since.

Part number on the invoice looks like A402 837 016 039058/Door Lock if this helps anybody else. Was the driver's side one.

It's useful to know when the topic is bought up again. I would have said around 1 1/2 hours labour.

Haha - it was the usual level of charges you would expect from Audi.

£120.77 for the part and not sure about the labour part as I had a few other things done at the same time.
Guess it worked out to be around £150 for labour ish.
