Mondial's warranty is conditional to the vehicle being serviced by Audi dealers..

Can also confirm the plugs got done at 50k..

I never had an issue with Warranty Direct... I had a Passat W8 4.0 4motion Saloon some years ago, and warrenty direct paid out a £3k claim for torque convertor and gearbox rebuild after the TC smashed itself to bits and where they use a shared oil system, went into smash up the box too. They then later paid out a £1k claim against the power steering system.

Would an engine chip / upgrade affect the warranty? Mines due soon (58 plate, 29k, serviced at Audi then QST).

Well, if your engine or gearbox goosed and you made a claim they would probably laugh at you. You run a risk that they refuse all claims.
