Rear Numberplate lights not working?

Post by yorkrs6+ » Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:26 pm

I've Just been fitting various parts of the LED interior kit, came to do the rear Numberplate lights and I'm not sure if they didn't work before I fitted the LEDs or no longer work. Either way with the Original bulbs back in a they still don't work?
Is there a fuse that I can check? If so where is it?

Thanks

Have you reversed either of the bulbs to check? Some LED festoon bulbs do actually require a certain polarity, varies from design to design iirc. Just re-read, unlucky, no idea about fuse for the rear numberplate lights. I take it you have checked the rear brake lights etc all still work? DIS is error-free?

BTW, you should have really posted your post in the main LED thread IMO to help for future searches. I have stuck a link in there for you to hopefully get help quicker.

hey yorks,

have you checked to see if there is power there when the lights are turned on?

maybe its just a blown fuse? think its a 5amp,

my allroad had a blown one when i got it, replaced it and never had a problem.

DIS doesn't check the number plate lights.

Probably a fuse. I'll have a look.

Sorry, I know it doesn't check those lights, I was referring to rear brake lights etc just in case.

Does your glovebox light work? Don't forget your side lights have to be on to make it come on. :bash: Must rewire that one day.

Thanks for the fuse box diagram/fuse to check

Can someone tell me where to find the fuse box, won't have time to play hide and seek with it tomorrow.

Also ignition was on, side lights and headlights on - made no difference. Swapped led back to original - nothing - no lights

Also glove box led works fine with side lights on.

try and adjust the prongs on the number plate lamp holder, they will more than likely be out of shape and not making a connection.

So number plate fuse is separate to side light fuse then? If it is, then yes it does sound like your problem.

Yup, number plates lights seem to have their own fuse.
