Hold your horses. I'm one of the few I think that has gone the other way. Also have a 09 plate with 23k on the clock but decided in may (3 year birthday) that I was not going down the route of warranty due the the massive expense of Mondail

I was quoted £1300 for 1 year. I know these are very expense to fix when they go wrong but come on. How many of us think a 3 to 4 year old car should go wrong. Cars are made to last these days. Not like 10 years ago when we all use to get rid of the car if it was coming close to 100 k on the clock.

I maybe wrong but so far I am £700 up.

All cars can go wrong - even newish audis! It's just when it's an RS it costs 3 times more to fix than anything else. Like I say I've had 2 wheel bearings, oil level sensor and heater flap motor fixed in the last year. The latter was 5 hours labour to fix, so thats £600 to start with, and the oil level sensor itself was over £400 +vat for the part   , so i dread to think what the cost would be if something serious went wrong...

A warranty is a must IMO.

Extended Warranty on RS6 C6

Post by anth8910 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 12:07 pm

Unless you've got a fairly big war chest for when things go wrong I think a warranty is a must. Due to the size of the engine, a lot more needs stripped down if something goes wrong down there due to space restrictions. Service manager told me they had one in last month for an alternator which was £300 for the part but the labour was four times that.

I think i have got to the bottom of it..

1. Always ensure that the quote includes IPT and not VAT.. This way a dispute can be brought before the ombudsman and not in front of a judge..
2. WD say they cover 'Wear and Tear' - This simply means that if the engine blows up or you end up on your haunches because the suspension has given way, they will pay - however if you get an 'advisory' (ie on a service report or that something is wearing and needs to be changed), that aint wear and tear !! They have said though, that if the advisory says 'change it or you die' they pay for it..
3. WD quoted me (nil excess) £825 including multimedia...

Still cannot justify Mondial...

Extended Warranty on RS6 C6

Proof will be in the pudding I guess. But I've heard very little good on WD.

With a premium RS I'd want the official warranty. I'm not going to quibble over a few quid given the potential size of a bill.

This is the route I have taken!!!

Brave? Stupid? Maybe but these things aren't like the C5 RS6 or so it seems so far?

I have a war chest hopefully il never need it?

I've had mine a year now all is good? Wheel bearings went a well known problem but due to car having full audi history and having a good relationship with my dealer, never cost me a penny and car was out of warranty.

Doodle,

Forget not that Mondial is Not Audi...

They may be recommended by Audi, but they are an independent provider just like the others.

To me it feels as though Mondial are charging extortionate warranty premiums if only for their portfolio of clients.

Maybe, but they have a working relationship with Audi UK and the dealer network. When the goodwill-o-meter comes into play I know who I'd rather be in bed with.

I did speak to the Audi dealer who maintained the car for the previous owner.. He did say go with Mondial.. My decision is made..

I appreciate all the good feedback - Good Deal on the car.. give em something back for the warranty.

Last question.. I can reduce the premium by £1000 if i take a £250 excess. This puts the premium at approx £1550. Essentially thsi assumes i would make 4+ warranty claims in the 1st year which is HIGHLY unlikely - Makes sense to go with the excess i guess..
