Is that the exhaust system where you can press a button to switch between exhaust tones?

If so its the one they demonstrated to me at ADI. I didn't massively like it, overly raspy to me. I prefer something a bit deeper. It wasn't fully developed of course so may change still.

That's the one, did they give you any info on final cost ?

Somebody on audizine described it as non-res with flaps open and stock with them closed.

No they weren't sure on that yet. I'd say that was a fairly good description. I had a chat with Revo whilst I was there and they had a stasis exhaust, this to me sounded nicer, especially on start-up. I had more of a V8 type burble than the V6 rasp. That is what I am after, the trouble is that when crushing they said it was less than ideal.

Well

Just got back from MRC...

Standard car on the dyno made 355hp, then Doug set to work his electrickery and produced......462hp :biggrin3:

[album]1224[/album]

This is just a stage 1 remap and a MRC filter, Doug said the old filter was dirty and the airbox was pretty full of leaves !

As far as driving is concerned well I used to have an RS4 B5 MRC stage 1, and this is almost as close to that :jump_clap: with the drive select set to dynamic, you can get pretty brutal acceleration in all gears, even in drive select auto the pick up in sixth around 70ish mph is addictive. The free-er filter gives a bit more supercharger whine on wot than before.

I jumped off the A-roads on the way home and had some great 4th gear fun on the twisties although crappy (Barum, previous owner fitted) summer tyres, +3c and a bit of moistness made for some sphincter tightening moments

I would recommend this to anyone it makes the car a real wolf in sheeps clothing, passed an RS4 B8 in Daytona grey on the M40 but he no play, would of been fun as the car now has more power than it (MRC dyno'ed one at the weekend and it gave up 430ish hp)

All I need to do now is sort out the noise, lets see what Milltek brings to the party in Jan with their new valvesonic exhaust.

Fooooooooooook, 462 from just a map and filter, no exhaust or pulley modification?! That is remarkable! Yours a manual then?

Yep it's a manual, apparently revs a bit higher than the s-tronic. Standard exhaust too !

Fantastic. Interesting to see MRC have the centre box removal listed on their site:

Stock Silencer Removal
Removal of centre silencers from standard exhaust. Stainless Steel pipe is used and will be TIG welded.
from £386.40

Far cheaper than the Supersprint X pipe which is £600 ish fitted I think?

Good to see Milltek offer a nice plain oval pipe finisher too (like B7 RS4) - I prefer the subtle look to that of the quads

I like the sound of this...just waiting for my motor. The wait is killing me...

What air filter was installed? We need photos!

Amazing! Playing with the big boys now with this power. The filter sounds like what I neec as I want more whine from the supercharger.

Can the s-tronic box handle this much torque do you know? I heard the manuals can handle it better.

It's a MRC foam filter, there is a picture of it on their Facebook page.

Nick, it's only on wot that I can notice more sc whine, I think you might be better off with maybe an apr Intake http://www.goapr.co.uk/products/intake_ ... 0tfsi.html

Isn't that what ringa is running ?

Or you could get a stratmosphere intake but they are a bit too loud IMHO.

Off to MRC in 10 days

Post by evojkp » Wed Dec 12, 2012 9:56 pm

Holy buggerlugs batman!!! Serious performance increase. Mine is a manual as well.

I'm looking at a stg2 early in new year after a change of job and was going to local apr reseller, but mrc seem to be pulling the rabbit out the hat, time and time again.

Would be worth the trip south I think.

Thanks for the feedback and sharing. Much appreciated.

I only have the Stage 2 carbon pipe, rather than the whole airbox, as all I wanted was a little more s/c whine. As it happens, although it has increased the s/c noise slightly, it really isn't that noticeable. Enough to make it worthwhile in my book though. I did not go for the whole Stage 1 kit, as it's very expensive and unlikely to make much of a performance difference. Getting close to making a call on that APR RSC exhaust though, as that might be the vital bit my ears are missing....

Oh yes, the pipe looks wicked as well.
