Countdown has started
Just sold my B7 RS4 (as seen in the classifieds) and waiting patiently for my Ibis White Black Edition S4 Avant to roll off the production line end of January.
I'm anxious about the drop in power but what I've been reading tells me I'm not going to notice much of a difference from the RS4! And that's before I consider some performance mods!
If I get a map etc. done by the likes of MRC, what's the deal with my Audi warranty? And should I let it run in a bit first?

Once you get your head around the fact that you now have an S rather than an RS you'll be fine, most negative comments about the S4 are about the looks - does look a bit like a 2.0 tdi - but apart from that it's an awesome car especially with the diff and ADS. I've had mine since may and love it.StandFreeRS4 wrote:Just sold my B7 RS4 (as seen in the classifieds) and waiting patiently for my Ibis White Black Edition S4 Avant to roll off the production line end of January.

I think warranty is void if you do a remap? Might be isolated to power train though.
Amazing how much power even a stage 1 remap adds, I think I saw something like ~80ps!

Re: Countdown has started
I ordered mine 3 weeks ago from a company in London who buy in bulk from Audi and pass some of the discount onto customers. I've gone for:mgoliveruk wrote:Been waiting for my Ibis White Black Edition S4 Avant since end of July, production week was last week, so may get it for Xmas. When did you order yours? specs?
Audi drive select
Audi hill-hold assist
Damper control
Heated front seats
Mobile telephone preparation - Low with Bluetooth and voice control
Technology package - High
So much more I could have gone for but had to hold back. Did a lot of reading on the suspension options and decided against the rear diff and the other option which I can't recall.

I also have an Ibis White S4 with all the toys and in my case came to it from a C5 RS6. Down a twisty country lane or round interesting Trackday, the RS6 would not see which way the S4 went, honestly. The V6 will never of course play angry like the old V8 under full pressure, but don't underestimate the impact of the neck end of 300kg less weight and a chassis light years ahead of the older car. I miss the Milltek rumble and straight line, limitless, 200mph Autobahn thrust (only once, in Germany...), but little else. I drove back 130miles in the pi55ing rain tonight, round motorways in heated seat and B&O comfort, then 15 miles down the dark wet twisties enjoying just the most compliant and sure footed chassis ever. Home safely with nothing but praise for the car.StandFreeRS4 wrote: I'm anxious about the drop in power but what I've been reading tells me I'm not going to notice much of a difference from the RS4! I'd say IMO the rear diff is one of the best options. Makes the car feel very planted on the twisties.
Re: Countdown has started
Absolutely agree on the rear diff when pushing on.
I can't describe how it's not quite as "natural" as control in a RWD 3 series for example, however it simply works. You can feel it when it tightens the line sometimes mid bend and an apex that was drifting suddenly becomes clippable with surgical precision. The car overall constantly impresses me and brings a smile.

Re: Countdown has started
Cheers lads. I've got in touch with Audi to ask that they fit the sports diff and dynamic steering so will wait and see. Due to be built later this month so you never know.

I've got until March to wait for mine...how do u think I feel StandFreeRS4? I like the pic of the black S4. It reassuring in that I've gone for a good colour - Phantom Black for the win!
Re: Countdown has started
Get the sports diff but I personally don't like the dynamic steering, it removes a lot of the steering feel compared to the A4 B8 3.0tdi I had before.
Perfect handling spec would be Quattro sports diff, drive select suspension but normal steering. Also dynamic steering means you can only get the car tracking and alignment done at Audi dealers and they are pretty crap at it.
