When its sorted the kit will be posted in the forum

The festoon type all work fine, but the bayonets (BA9S) used in the switchable map reading lights don't. They work when all interiors lights are on, but if you use them independently (i.e. just switch on map lights) they don't light. I'm guessing this is because when using the map light switches the polarity is reversed?

Is there any way round this by adding additional resistors, or am I just talking bollox (quite likely).
I checked mine earlier. When you have just switched off the ignition or just opened the door (and even closed it it again, all lights work as they should, either independently or individually.
However, once the time has elapsed so that the normal interior light goes out, then the map lights flicker if they are lit alone. Light 2 of them or more and they are fine. This is the same whether the big light is on or off, so something to do with what happens when the timer runs out and would normally turn the big light off, regardless of the switch position.
If I manually switch 2 maps lights on, all is fine. If I switch 1 map light on and the big light, all is fine. As I don't think I have ever had the situation where just one map light is on and the big light has timed out (other than when testing the lights) then this means this is not a problem for me.
I'm guessing it is something to do with current draw but without knowing how they are wired / controlled it is just a guess.

Does the same on the RS6 c6.

as Mike has said i dont think you would ever be in a situation where the car was off and you would only be using 1 of the map lights, while driving it would not be a problem as it has the power to light that up.

i am currently designing a bulb that will will work in the numberplate thats not massivly bright and that will work error free. Mike, do you find your plate lights bright?

i sold a few sets of them and just used tint spray to tone them down, il send you a snap if you like?

Thanks

Not at all, I love the brightness and whiteness. Looks really good with the led tail lights. No errors on my current ones at all (which was a complete replacement unit not just the bulb).

If you are talking about the red LEDs they were definitely not standard on all A4s, maybe standard on the RS4 though and maybe part of the lighting pack. There was a big thread somewhere about retro fitting them so can't be standard on all Audis.
ah ok. must have had the lighting pack on all cars then haha! :biggrin3:
