I managed to get the genuine Audi key just by luck i guess - £10 quid from fleabay & was an unused spare from a 2004 A3. Must say it is bang on & although the £40 key was perfectly ok, the official Audi one is a step up in quality. Even came with the proper swivel ring attachment that TPS wanted £5 for! FYI it was an 8p0 837 231 that I bought, but i think the internals will transplant into most recent designs that use the CR2032 battery.

I've not tried a full blown VCDS cable with this software, but I do know that if you're flashing ECU's with these cables, you need to uncheck the "boot in intelligent mode" option from within VCDS - this solves many problems when using these cables outside the VCDS application...

I have unregistered version of vcd-lite. Came with my cable
Followed this guide everything spot on until I try and pair to new key -
I get a warning message saying it is unregestered version of vcd-lite.
Is there a way round to do this or do I need to spend $100? Please pm me a fix if anyone knows
Thanks

We don't mention the application as it can be used to steal your car.

can this procedure be applied to reinitialize the original keys? i have both original keys but neither of them is working any longer, changed the batteries, nothing. The first one didn't work when i bought the car, the second one stopped working after i dropped it 19 floors down along with the garbage bag....:( , however i opened it and it seemed to be ok, physically at least, changed the battery, cleaned it :) , no luck, doesn't work...i guess the immobilizer on both keys is ok, since the car is starting and running, the central locking doesn't work, i have to plug in the key in the lock to open the car...

Nothing to do with the key / immobiliser. You just need to follow the remote fob re-adaptation procedure. It's in the manual.

Or you can do it with the Vagcom. I've done both.

Press one of the buttons then physically lock or unlock the drivers door with the key within 30 seconds.
