My manual's in the car so I can't compare it with yours, but the snapshot above says the message is only there until the oil reaches 25 degrees. Mine is there till around 60...

Yes that bit is wrong, the 7k message stays on until either 60 or 70 degrees.

Having a port, carbon clean (@23K miles) and re-map has made a noticeable difference particularly from 5K. Definitely stronger pulls and with the maps extra features (over REVO), such as linear map in non-sport mode and quiet start-up was worth it. One thing I wasn't aware of for me was that the low rev limiter is now 5.5K due to a lot more air and timing. Still gave me shock when I planted it on the slip road. ;-)

Hope yours turns out okay PBM1 or Paddski!? Seems you’re having pretty much everything done bar a supercharger! LOL. You’re going to love it!

Was there much carbon buildup at 23k?

Stock they have a limiter @7k until fully warmed engine ( 70 degrees ) mrc maps reduce that to 5500rpm or maybe 5000rpm im not sure as im quite anal about warming it fully before full beans,9 litres of oil takes some warming !!

Well, like a man with an orthopaedic shoe, I stand corrected. I must have been brainwashed by the manual. That combined with the fact I wasn't deliberately doing it probably meant my eyes were on the road at the time and never noticed the actual limit!

Yes - will post the pictures off Doug later. Apparently it was a bad enough build to inhibit the engine.

Glad that 7K limit is now resolved. :smile_smoking:

Wow, surprised there was a lot of carbon at 23k. Be interested to see how much power mine is down next week before any mods (nearly 50k on the clock).

When cold the rev limiter cuts in at 7k
+1

When the oil temp is below 60 Celsius, the limiter is at 7000 rpm - try it... I have a few times when I first got my RS4.

Here's a few of them. Bought at 18K so the previous owner might have been Miss Daisy! ;-)
