VARIOUS HELP PLEASE

Post by SimonG » Fri Nov 02, 2012 12:31 pm

Hi, all wonder if anyone can point me in various directions;

Clipped a couple of the wheels and would like to get them re-furb'ed. I am aware Lepson's are viewed as excellent but wondered if there was anyone as good in the Surrey area I live in Chipstead.
Are there any recommended specialist garages in the Surrey area? the front fog light glass has cracked , the rear window wiper isn't working properly and I need new front discs in the next few weeks. Happy to use Coulsdon Audi if needed but these are functional jobs that I might be able to save a few bob on. ( if anyone has any front discs- let me know...!)
Finally, best valet/ detailing in Surrey area . Car is polished every couple of weeks but would like to spend a few quid on it

Lots of questions - apologies and thanks.

I can recommend these guys near Gatwick: http://www.flightpathautos.co.uk/index. ... Itemid=143
Ask for Pat, he just did an awesome job on my RS4 Carbon clean, great price too. He has looked after our family cars for years and is very familiar with RS4's.

I know you asked for Surrey, but KDS Keltec in Gillingham (Kent) also do mechanical work, servicing and upgrades alongside the detailing that they are best known for. They pretty much only work on performance cars, and have recently stripped and rebuilt an Enzo so your requirements shouldn't be a problem.

Lepsons are in the opposite unit to KDS, so you could have everything done at the same time.

I've had detailing and wheel refurbs from them both and been very happy with the service. Not the cheapest by a long shot, but arguably the best in their fields.

Thanks all- very useful

Do I recall there is an Audi specialist somewhere in Surrey - had a trawl but can't find it.

No not planning on selling - would be happy to if you could squeeze 2 kids in the back of a R8....... And I'm way way too tight to spend £70k on a newer version of what I have ... even though I am sure they are excellent...

Rear wiper could well be the motor. Mine started intermittently coming on and off by itself, would work only occasionally and stopped in random positions. Cant remember if it was caused by water ingress or a overheated PCB (think it may well have been the latter) so the unit was not repairable. New motor about £100 from Audi (apparenty its Audi specific so unable to source a cheaper Skoda/VW/Seat part) and about an hour to fix, due mainly to the wiper arm being seized onto the motor spindle which was a right PITA to remove!

The rear wiper motor failed on my RS4 a few weeks ago - white smoke pouring from it while I was driving! Had to stop and pop the wiper fuse (same fuse for front and rear wipers - bad mistake Audi) so I had to drive home with no front wipers either, fortunately it was only drizzling.

Motor (8E9 955 711E)cost £111.83 from local Audi dealer but only took about half an hour to fit - including getting the tailgate trim off and back on.
