Difficulty getting into gear??? Update!!!!

Post by Tile Diver » Thu Nov 01, 2012 9:28 pm

Hi Folks,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on an issue I'm having at the moment, I'm finding it quite difficult to put the car into gear from stationary, whether it be 1st or reverse, although no issues whilst driving. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of the possible causes before I go to the Stealers to get it looked at.

Clutch and gearbox has done 44,000 miles

Cheers in advance.

Has the car has any work done recently? Could be as simple as the clutch needs bleeding.
Current car: 2007 BMW 530d touring.

I have just put a new set of discs and pads on the front, had a nightmare getting the pad retaining pins out, so had both the calipers off and had to bleed them when I put it all back together, its just started happening after that, could this be linked?

I'm not sure if the brake and clutch hydralics are linked. Someone on here should be able to answer that.

Im having same problem at the moment. But once i have selected 1st or reverse i can easily repeatedly select the gears again and again until i release the clutch and press it down again then i get the same problem. My car has just had the DRC's replaced by audi, so am wondering whether this could be related???

Ginors4 - mines the same as that. Also gets worse the colder the weather - but as soon as there's some temperature in the engine (and hence gearbox) it all eases off.

Dave - I only picked the car up yesterday and had a drove home beautifully. i only noticed the problem this morning when cold. Has yours always been this way or is this something that gets worse and needs attention.

So do we know what's causing it then, be good to find out rather than waiting on something going bang.

Hopefully its something simple.

I'm having mine looked at tomorrow by a local garage (friend of mine Evo specialist) to eliminate the possibility of trapped air, needing bleeding ect. I will report back if I have any news

That would be great man, hopefully we can get to the bottom if this issue as there seems to be a few of us experiencing it.

Keep us posted !!!
