Nope I just hope she stops when I push the middle pedal until the little yellow light comes on and she says "I need some new shoes!" then I take her shopping
And that's just the missus!

Re: Does anyone else follow this?
Well the dealers don't. But they'll wave the piece of paper in your face and tell you that they're not honouring the Audi parts warranty if it hasn't been done
In my experience at least.
So, do it or be prepared to say you did it if anything goes wrong. For the record, I've done it three times. And now I have ceramics

Re: Does anyone else follow this?
So this bedding in procedure should be done pretty much as soon as you get the car back from the stealers after installing new pads or discs (or both)?

Re: Does anyone else follow this?
Well, I followed it anyway just to be safe and hopefully I'll have some kind of comeback if there is a disc warping problem before the parts warranty of 2 years is up!!!Reffio wrote:So this bedding in procedure should be done pretty much as soon as you get the car back from the stealers after installing new pads or discs (or both)?
It was a ballache and took around an hour and a half, trying to find a quiet road for that duration is near impossible.
Reffio, I think thats the general idea but there is no chance of the dealer doing this for you, and I suspect they may not even mention it to the customer after they fit new discs and pads, I could be wrong though!!

Re: Does anyone else follow this?
2 year parts warranty won't apply to "warped" discs. They have an additional very low mileage warranty often not much more than 3k miles (on other marques).
bedding in is always good to do and worth repeating regulary to keep things in tip top condition. Normal day to day driving can be harder on the brakes than driving them hard and can prevent "warping" from pad deposits. Also generally stops the more track focussed setups from squealing.

Oh well I guess it's another good excuse for tearing around in the car for a while! Although I as mentioned I'm not sure where you find a quiet bit of road to do the continued runs like that!

Exactly, and your right It wasn't easy on the road, I had the hazards on most of the time in fear of someound coming into the back of me!!!Reffio wrote:Oh well I guess it's another good excuse for tearing around in the car for a while! Did mine on a local disused arifield. Only problem was the concrete runways are breaking up pretty bad and there were massive potholes absolutely everywhere

Ideal, just not good for the DRS, hopefully no damage caused.KernowPete wrote:Did mine on a local disused arifield. Only problem was the concrete runways are breaking up pretty bad and there were massive potholes absolutely everywhere

Re: Does anyone else follow this?
Yup, the only way to do it safely and without affecting other road users is by doing it at night. I work on an 'on call' basis overnight quite a lot so I did it at around midnight on a completely empty rural road: the road from Newcastle to Jedborough (basically I went to Scotland and back
). Brilliant road for the way back when I could drive unrestricted, just had to watch out for the sheep.
