Ginge, I think I am going be first out of the blocks with these by at least a week over Mart/Luke BUT, I would much rather have all 3 of our takes on them before passing full verdict. I found one little design niggle on an accessory part which was easily rectified with a powertool and the manufacturers are going to make any suitable revisions needed.

Jules (madam) had to take the afternoon off work to get up to MRC yesterday to meet up and collect the discs. Doug gave them a quick lookover and found nothing to be concerned with on them at all. Confident that they are going to do the job but the proof of the pudding will be in the braking, boom boom....

Quick question for you boys...why are you going to so much trouble to upgrade your brakes...Is it purely aesthetic...are OEM brakes really that bad...I've never found them wanting...is the upgrade for tracking the car or do you have a problem with the standard brakes?

I am doing it as the OE 8 pot setup isn't good enough for my driving style. This could quite possibly be down to tired calipers as I have mentioned once or twice before but despite the Carbotech pads making a night & day improvement on the 8 pot setup, there were too many downsides, such as grinding under braking and heavy brake noise.

I believe that the grinding and brake noise were due to the the disc guard stopping so much air from getting to the back of the discs and also was hindering the holes from de-clogging.

Everything is going horribly wrong. The people fitting the calipers and discs say that they simply cannot bleed the right front caliper properly at the moment and this has stopped the detailer from doing any work pretty well all afternoon. The car is only half polished and he isn't available tomorrow to finish the job.

Why can't they bleed it? It can take a long time to get all the air out.

Start with the inner bleed nipple, then the outer.

Are they using a pressure bleeder?

Sadly no, no pressure bleeder. This is all last minute due to the discs having to get here 11th hour-style. Detailer is sharing space with a tyre fitting company and due to time constraints, they are the ones fitting them. I know the owner of the company by reputation and he is doing the work himself so I have to believe that they can manage to bleed calipers......

I will give them a bell first thing in the morning to tell them niblet order thanks.

Grab a pressure bleeder (Gunsons Eezibleed) from Halfrauds - that will do the trick beautifully. If they are getting air in the caliper with the pedal method it's because something isn't tightened up - I am suspecting the pipe nut going into the calipers isn't nipped up enough. When they let the pedal go, air will be drawn in if that's the case.

There is a surprising volume of brake fluid required to fill the C6 calipers. Takes ages pumping the pedal.

Looking forward to seeing the brakes in the flesh as they are not quite tickling my balls on here.
Hope the beast gets sorted for ADI 12". Fair play to all involved designing these brakes

I am just pissed off as I could have easily done the brakes myself if everything hadn't been going to the limit time-wise Shopp. I am off to the hotel at about 1pm tomorrow and the brakes have to be done by then and the stereo fitted too. Starting to wish that I hadn't bothered as I am stressing out so much over a sodding car and a sodding car show, need to get things in perspective.

The same guys have madam's R in for Eagles all round and laser alignment at 10am so I am hoping that doesn't add to my car getting shafted. Anyway, sorry for all the little bitch whining, I just want to <beep> something really hard.

I have an eezibleed and may take it down there early tomorrow morning. I might take the wrench off him and tighten up the hose myself too. Going to have to leave the cracked up mirror bases on too now, just don't have the time to swap them now methinks.

Yeah, it's not worth getting your panties in a twist over a lump of metal. Get the brakes working, then that'll take the pressure off. Don't worry about the rest of it.

If it is any consolation, one of my wheels is curbed, I haven't had my front tyres fitted as still need to sort the arch rolling, my Milltek tips which were sprayed satin black have some silver shining through where the paint has chipped off and I won't get a chance to wash the car at all. I had planned to get all sorted this week but haven't had any time free whatsoever.

ADI ain't a car show IMO. My car won't be washed, I didn't get my wheels done, I didn't get my discs (I wasn't really pushing that one), and I haven't fit my new pads (but they are in the car)... 0.5 out of 4 ain't bad.
Don't sweat it Nick, it's just an oversized Audi meet with some track time. There's no need for you to be there are 8am, that's for driver sign in, sleep in 'till 9...

Don't worry about it Footers. I'll still be ogling over your car anyway. My car probably isn't gonna be cleaned - and to cap it off I kerbed a rear wheel today (grrrrrrr)

Note in fitting freshly rebuilt or new calipers - it pays to prefill the caliper with as much brake fluid as possible prior to fitting. You can often get bubbles forming in certain areas and they can take a while to get rid of at the best if times. Pre filling certainly reduces it.
