Agreement for purchase of RS2 LHD in the UK

Post by Kevert » Sun Sep 02, 2012 2:22 pm

Hello All,

After owning several Audi S4 and S6 models, I now own a A3 2.0 turbo sb quattro edition (for the misses) and a (boring) VW Passat (company car). For the weekends I am now searching for a Audi RS2. I have always wanted to own one and now decided the time is there to try and find one.

I have found an example that looks very nice from the pictures at 911944.com.
http://www.911944.com/vehicles-for-sale ... unning.htm

I will be in the UK for business this week and are planning to check this car out. Anyone familiar with this vehicle? Also I am trying to find à list of things to look out for when looking at RS2's but have not yet found à specific list on the internet, anyone?

Thanks in advance from the Netherlands.

Regards,
Evert

Short update from my side.

Looked at the car Tuesday evening and it looks like an honest example. It needs some tlc but overall I believe it is a good car. What makes me smile is that the car comes with a full services history from Audi supported by not only stamps in the service book but also a big pack of invoices :jump_clap:

I already have one question which maybe someone on here can answer:
The gear changes were all smooth and no strange noises. However getting into second gear (espacially back from third) was a bit difficult. It felt like the gear lever could be pushed to far left (more in the position where you can select reverse) so it could no longer be pushed down into second. Taking the gear lever a little back to the right and we had a smooth shift to second gear. Felt a bit like there was some resistance missing. Anyone an idea what that could be?

Next step is an independent inspection of the car. I have sent an email to the guys at quattroworks to ask whether they could help, they will respond to my request tomorrow.

to be continued.....

Might just need a new gear selected ball and housing. It had it replaced on mine.

I would say this is quite steep price for a lhd drive in the uk. I think I have seen them go for quite a bit less than this, although with higher mileage.

Yesterday agreed the purchase of a lhd RS2 from the UK. Really excited about it.

Been to the UK mid december for a viewing and technical check. Very nice car with extensive maintenance history. Requires a few bits and pieces:
- new windscreen
- new brake pressure accumelator
- new headlight

mid January back to the UK to pick up the car and drive it to the Netherlands.
