Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
I agree the RS4 is special, but so is the RS3, it's a limited run and I think residuals will reflect that. There is a huge step up in price between the 2 and in the real world no performance difference. I would never buy a car because of the "entertainment system" it had, the RNSE is a bit dated but does everything, the MMI is hardly without it faults! At least with the RS3 you can change it for an "in car PC' very easily, you are screwed in anything later!
The RS3 is based on the (now, just) older model but as the the B7 RS4 it will always be a superb car! I'm always going to stick up for it because I own one, but for people to comment without owning and driving one day to day is a little short sighted don't you think? Until the new RS3 is released there is no comparison surely?

I'm not saying that I'd buy a car for it's entertainment system, clearly I didn't as I have an RS3! What I am saying is that small things like no DAB are going to catch up in time (same applies to the R8 of course).
I think the B8 will be a nicer plae to be for more of the time. Don't get me wrong, I like the RS3, but when I get into the RS6 the comfort is way higher.

Just seen your sig, didn't realise you had an RS3, sorry.doodlebug wrote:I'm not saying that I'd buy a car for it's entertainment system, clearly I didn't as I have an RS3! What I am saying is that small things like no DAB are going to catch up in time (same applies to the R8 of course).

They are cars aimed at totally different markets though, not really fair to compare

Just get out there and test drive one, easiest thing to do and will settle it for you. I wasn't even considering the RS3 but after driving it it's the best choice (for me) in that price range. I did look at a B8 S4, 911 Turbo (997) C63 AMG but this came trumps! You can disregard the 911 as a performance comparison though, it was SUPER quick, but if I would have bought that my 3 year would hate me as there was just no room in the back whatsoever. You may as well discount the S4 also, I've never driven anything so boring...........

No problem, I've only just updated the sig!
Agreed, only sure fire way is to get in both. Though if you want to order a 3 you're probably not going to have that luxury.

Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
iv got a Suzuka RS 3 on order for Dec delivery and am in my 3rd TTRS which has the same running gear
I'd swap them all for a B7 RS 4 ANY DAY OF THE WEEK

Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
Confused .com, I think I would like the rs3 for its explosive turbo power especially after a trip to mrc, but on the other hand the 4 offers a totally different package+ looks more special I'm gonna do my home work on this one and drive both cars to see the outcome I just hope the new 4 offers something special!! But I have my doubts
Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
Dk looks like a straight swap with your rs3 pm me + cash my way

Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
What a strange comment, why spend over £100k on those 3 cars when you could get an RS4 for under £20k and you'd be happyD_K wrote:iv got a Suzuka RS 3 on order for Dec delivery and am in my 3rd TTRS which has the same running gear

doest work like that my man

Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
You've just ordered an RS3 for December delivery which is circa £40k less options, if you prefer an RS4 why not get one at half the price and give me the differenceD_K wrote:doest work like that my man

Just put the phone down from Walton Audi gonna test drive the new 4 in October, and an rs3 before, place your bets please
Re: Should I sell the rs4 and buy a 3?
I've driven an RS3 recently and no doubt it is a good car, plenty of grunt but I wouldn't have said that much more if at all any than what I have, decent sound with sports exhaust, but no bigger in the cabin than an RS4, no more up to date and smaller boot than my Avant for £20k (used) to £30+K (new) more so why would you? It is still in the midst of its depreciaation curve, the RS is near the bottom. Also, why are RS3 owners so limited in their colour palate; white, red, black or grey are so bland. I've only seen 4 Sepang ones and a Kingfisher Blue which are far nicer colours.
Am driving the new RS4 in 3 weeks so will see what it is like but again I fear £50K to move into something that is granted a bit more modern but not a lot better if at all is a big ask. I wonderr if they'll let us pitch one of our B7's against a B8 at Oulton?

Makes total sense what your saying there PG I guess that's why I've had my car 4 years plus now, I just fancy something different for next year, it's a pity Audi didn't turbo the new 4
