RNS-E, have I bought the right version?

Post by Mr Footlong » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:39 pm

Hi guys

Bit the bullet and grabbed a RNS-E today but as per usual I was doing too many things at once and not paying full attention. I am 95% certain that I have bought the right one based on the buttons but:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261101891582

I haven't got the time to install it myself so Hazzy Dayz will be doing the job for me and providing whatever else is needed. I feel dirty spending that much on old tech but hey.

Thanks,

Nick.

I think that will need a C5 RS6 surround for it. 2010 model, I wonder if it's the high res 3D jobbie?

If it is then it won't work as far as I know. Pretty sure that the 3g versions have 2 silver knobs on the right hand side. I have asked the seller (who was very quick to come back to me with bounter offers) but have yet to hear back.

I think that's a myth, ask Amar. I heard there's a guy running one in a C5 Allroad.

Footers, I'm pretty sure you've bought the wrong RNS E. Looks like the A4 one and the gaps on the side will piss you off. Try and get a part number from the seller. This one below, however, will fit correctly and is the one you need:

I've looked at the newer RNS E, I've tried to buy one but the bloke selling it hasn't got back to me. Someone is running it on a C5 on RS6.com and like Bam said, an Allroad too.

It could be the right one, hard to tell from the photo. But the fact he says A6 RS4 is worrying, the A4/S4/RS4 one is too thin for the C5, but the C5 one can be trimmed to fit the B7. So maybe that's what he's suggesting, that it's an A6 one but will fit an A4 with some modification.

Amar, surely if it was the S4 version it would have the chrome strip on the bottom. The ad says A6/S6/RS6 but the RS4 mentioned in there does throw it a tad.
