What's a good price for brake pads?
What's a good price for brake pads?
Just had my front brake pads changed and due to time constraints and to save messing around I had them done at kwik fit. In the end it cost me £174.00 for Brembos but with a life time guarantee which they are doing on all pads these days. Meaning that if I still own the car next time the front pads need doing then they replace them for free. So figuring that in they really cost only £87.00 as I can't see any possible reason why I would get rid of the car.
What have you guys paid in the past?
Is this a competitive price or not?

Good luck with that.
A quick Google. Are these your T&Cs?

Not a very helpful response, sorry. Maybe someone else can confirm, but I think your interpretation of the terms only apply if you drive less than 12,000 miles over the lifetime of your ownership of the car. Which is a wee bit on the short side.
If these are the same as yours then I think the sales guy has mislead you. Or you've misunderstood them. In which case I don't know where you stand. Either way, you've got some new brakes. I can't comment on the price.
Stu.

Re: What's a good price for brake pads?
I spoke to the guy about this part of the terms. The initial bit "a brake customer will receive replacement sets of brake pads and or brake shoes for as long as you own the car" means that regardless of mileage if I am still the owner they will replace them. The second portion "Plus 12 months or 12000 miles guarantee on all other brakes parts fitted " means if I had had the discs done at the same time or new brake lines they would be covered by this second portion.
I am pretty wary when something seems too good to be true and had a read through the terms and conditions and asked questions of the manager. Hopefully I didn't miss anything but I won't know until I need to replace them. Thanks for the post Stu hope this reply clears up some of the language of the terms and conditions for anyone else reading.
Has anyone out there had their brakes done on this deal and gone back to get them replaced once they have worn down on any vehicle they have owned. This might be worth opening out to the whole forum for an answer.

Sounds like a good deal for Brembos, how much did you pay for labour/fitting?
Also, anyone know the OEM equivalent for the Audi genuine ones?

Hi, how you doing?. Not been on the fourm for a while, just to let you know i got my front brake pads supplied and fitted for 203 pound, from Glasgow Audi.

Re: What's a good price for brake pads?
Having looked at my receipt they haven't separated out the labour cost so I am not sure. Sorry
They have charged an amount for the pads and a small fee for a brake component check.

Ok, np, so it was £174 for brembo pads inc fitting? if the brembo pads are any good then that's a fantastic deal.Noyjatat wrote:Having looked at my receipt they haven't separated out the labour cost so I am not sure. Sorry

Re: What's a good price for brake pads?
Well I know the mileage they were fitted so I will post again whe they need changing and the mileage they lasted. I know it is totally dependant on how you drive, where you drive and so on but at least it will be accurate as far as my car is concerned and combined with the free second set they may work out better overall.
Re: What's a good price for brake pads?
Is there a better looking replacement calipers body for the rear? It's pretty poor in comparison to the front and something I am definitely going to have to do something about.
