Mine's mostly because I've driven an Impreza for the last few years which has a hill-hold clutch, hence having completely forgotten how to do hill starts (tried one the other day in the RS and stalled it (and then messed up the restart, then nailed it away from the lights ASAP))

I use my armrest all the time. Took a few weeks to get used to gear changes with "the claw", but now feels totally natural.
Shove the phone in there and some sunny's... sorted.

Yes, easy to retrofit.

You can order the Armrest kit, which comes with all parts including the retainer mount and a top covering, however you will also need to order a matching leather top for your car as the kit comes with a cloth top.

I think it's about £250ish for all parts, and the fitting is easy, however you need to cut a whole near the ashtray. I would recommending keeping an eye out on eBay as you should be able to get one for £100 with the correct top.

I have an armrest and am about to retrofit, however I need the template which comes with the kit so that I can position it correctly - any one have one of these?

£250 not too bad. I used to get a lot of parts for my M3 from FAB Breakers, is there an equivalent for Audi?

Either you only drive on exceptionally flat roads or you have a lot of friction in your wheel bearings, etc. - in neutral or with the clutch out my RS4 will roll easily on any road that isn't absolutely flat.

Here's the advice that ADIs are told to give on handbrake usage:

Gutted that mine hasnt got an armrest, never got in the way when I had the S3 and S4. I might retrofit at some point, but at £250 abit excessive i think at the minute....!!

Armrest can get in the way and not that useful for resting arm on for short people like me. Handbrake can be used if not tilted all the way down. HOWEVER, I SEARCHED OUT A CAR WITH ARMREST COS IT MAKES THE INTERIOR LOOK MUCH BETTER WHEN IT'S DOWN!!! Sad as it may seem, whenever I park up and leave the car, I put Armrest down for visual delight when I walk back in to car.....and for any passer bys who want to admire interior :bigblink:

I must be the only one who uses it, is it bad to admit i had it down when and when using it doing hot laps of the ring? A man must relax :)

Tru dat! Right hand on the wheel, right elbow on the door handle/switch-pack ledge, left hand on the gearknob, left elbow on the armrest. How else are you meant to drive?! Only time it changes is for adventurous cornering when both hands go on the wheel.

As you said, Tamworth Audi have confirmed that the front armrest is only available as a spare with black cloth top. That doesn't help me much with a silver grey leather interior and they are not aware of a leather top. Is this available from Audi to match any interior?
