As it happens, I finally got around to putting the feelers out to your guy yesterday about getting my (now overdue) annual detail organised, based upon your recommendation (which I did mention to him it was, btw  ).
Haven'y heard anything back yet, but would understand if he's particularly busy at the moment, given the time of the year and all that.
Mr Footlong wrote:he recently had a day's training with some bloke that is sposed to be the no1 detailer in the country, I think?
Wasn't Kelly over at KDS, by any chance was it? If so, he did a great job on mine a few years back, but we had to abort a subsequent attempt a year or so ago (after I'd taken the time off work and made the trek over there :boohoo: ) due to discovering a slight 'smart repair' blemish that someone must have carried out previously. Got that professionally sorted, followed by a full detail, but have since been looking for someone much closer to home that I can call upon regularly to keep the car looking 100%.
Hoping 'your guy' will fit the bill nicely. :)

Nick, he is all over the place currently! Normally I have to book in with him at least 2 weeks in advance and he only lives 60 seconds walk away from me. While keeping all his current clients happy with his mobile business, he is in the middle of trying to transition to fixed premises and starting up a new company, so he is very busy. This guy that is reputed to be the best detailer in the country charges some astronomical fee of over £2k a day or something hilarious like that to pass on his detailing knowledge.

Lee is great, the only, only thing I would say would say is that when he is doing the basic cleaning stuff, as in not a full day/2 of paint correction or something more advanced, he can on occasion rush a little. I think that this is only with me though as I get mate's rates and he just has so much work constantly.

OK, cheers Nick. I'm in no great hurry and, besides, would always prefer to wait in line for someone good than opt to go for someone that can see you immediately as they have no other clients/reputation! :)

Gliptone leather cleaner is excellent .... 'Liquid Leather' I believe it's called. They also do a conditioner, but ( and I'm not an expert on this ) I'm not sure if our seats require any conditioning. My understanding is that some coloured leathers are 'painted' and applying a conditioner will do nothing as it would literally sit on top.

Zymol and Swissvax products are also really good, although can be expensive

Yes, I already use LL cleaner and conditioner and it *is* good. But I want to know if the Swissvax stuff is worth paying 8 times more for. Or if there is a better (and less rip-off) equivalent.

Your guess is as good as mine at present. Stupid fine detail stuff seems to be holding things up but hopefully I might hear something tomorrow. Trying to get the caliper back so I can get both painted. Have Brembo decals in various sizes en route.

I decided that I had too much stuff on to look any further in to it after I didn't trust my local guy to do a good enough job, 1 place that you found sadly couldn't have been any lett interested if they tried and one place was very helpful but believed that it was a finish that only a big manufacturer with the correct kit could replicate. They will have to stay a little tatty.

I have still to take them apart and fit the new manual mounts (sitting on the table...) but NHN is digging around looking at exactly what he needs to get hold of in order to convert the car to electric folding mirrors. Looks he he will be going second hand for complete assemblies (so not cheap and hopefully the mounts won't be tired/cracked through like the current ones) but Audi want £400+ all day long for just the electric mounts. Then you have the switch, relay board etc so vee shall see......

If I end up with 2 sets of mirrors, any guesstimate on resale for a pair or silver RS6 mirrors complete with brand new mounts? Do you think high £200's is expecting too much?
