Coolant change in C5 RS6?

Post by C5RS6ABT » Wed Aug 22, 2012 7:13 pm

Hello,

I'm new to this board and I have tried searching the topic to no avail. If the info I requested is somewhere in the realms of the boards pls accept my apologies in advance for making a n00b mistake :)

So I plan to change coolant for my RS and I was wondering is there anything 'specific' I need to take into account? Is there a plug under the radiator or do I need to disconnect one of the hoses to drain the system? Anything special to keep in mind when filling in the system etc?

The car in question is the one on the right.

Thanks in advance.

FON.

Catchy name you've got there.

You can drain where the plug is, near the bottom of the radiator. For filling up, Audi use a special tool to put the system under pressure. If you can't be bothered to get hold of one, you can half pull one of the heater hoses off (can't remember which one) and expose the bleed hole. Do this with heater on full, even though I'm not sure there is any valve on the heater matrix.

I posted some info for JC Viggen a while back. I'll see if I can find it.

Can't find it with a quick search, you'll find it if you look. Here's a picture, anyway:

Hi,

I'm planning to do it myself, just to tinker with the car a bit as this shouldn't be too difficult of a DIY :)

Cars are '86 Porsche 930 'Sonderwunsch' with 6 special order codes and a tad over 35k km's on the clock. Documented :) The beemer is an old '05 E60 M5 with 79k km's on the clock and the RS is an '04 with ABT intake, exhaust and ECU and around 73k km's on the clock.

I can take some pictures tomorrow.

It's part of the ABT 505hp or bhp (whatever it is :) ) package which to my understanding should include ECU, intake and exhaust.

Exhaust it at least has at there are 4-tips. Or then I have the tips only LoL

Is it quicker than the M5? Looking forward to more info on the ABT package.

Hard to tell really as I haven't been able to drive both of them on the same time :)

On a serious note I think the M5 might be slightly quicker - however the cars are very different in character as the RS6 has torque and it's really 'easy' and smooth to drive whereas the M5 needs quite a bit of revs. Also the gearboxes are very different and the 'kick' in the back what the M5 gives when changing on P500 sport program makes it feel quick(er?). M5 is otherwise stock but it has an aftermarket exhaust, which is good and 20* wheels which is not so good for acceleration...

Wow, nice cars! Given the running costs I recon there is a small oil well hidden behind that wall...

hi there neighbor :), after seeing the picture you have for signature i thought it might be you....welcome to the club :). As mine is also ABT i have sent them an email asking about the modifications and it looks like we have the modified ECU map and the rear mufflers 4 end pipe design, at least this is what i got! The Sticker on the airbox, it's just a Sticker, they did nothing to the intake! The other package they offered came with a full exhaust system, different brakes on all 4 corners, 20'' wheels, and more power!

L.E. ...and the speed limit was increased to 280km/h as part of the package we have !
2004 RS6 by ABT, madly in love with it, RNS-E, ST coilovers, new TC, 19x9x29 RS4 B7 wheels, non-resonated Milltek w/blk tips, TBC....SOLD - but never to be forgotten!
2004 RS6 ebony schwarz, SE exhaust, 19'' rims - SOLD
'09 RS6 C6 - the great white - now, this means business!

I contacted ABT and they provided me with following info:

VIN - "WUAPV54B64N900xxx" ABT tuning history:
Fahrzeugmarke Audi
Typ A6_4B
Hubraum 4,2
Leistung (ABT) 505 PS
Kraftstoffart Otto
Tuning-Datum 2010-11-03 09:40:12
Prozess Nr.
146191 - Abt Sportsline EDaS IV

ABT brake upgrade part # is AN0600042VA and the calipers have ABT logos on them - so I don't have these at least :) I was told by someone 'somewhere' that the kit would have included an intake as well but I stand corrected on this one.

Found also the price list from 2007 for the upgrade: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/14828564/AB ... 7-Hinnasto (pg 41 for RS6 - these are Finnish prices so may not be applicable for everyone but might give an indication what it cost back in the days)

I used to live in DXB but not anymore :) so the cars are now in the old continent...
