£25k offer - That sounds like a reasonable value.
Discs are going to cost you best part of £1k though if they're that bad
What's the DRC system like, any history of replacement ?
Inchcape arn't silly, they'd have put it through the Audi approved scheme for £30k if it'd been truly 'mint'
As it stands, they'd probably have only got 20-21k after charges though auction
Maybe there's something to it not so obvious
Is it worth getting it to a specialist such as MRC to get it thoroughly checked out ?

He called back today and said he paid £25.5k for it He would do the boot catch, armrest but not the discs as 'it owes him too much money'. It is a nice car but not for that money. Going to test drive it so will see how it goes. I have a couple of other of potential options from forum members which I'd prefer so we'll wait and see.

Just need something to get about in as cabs, lifts and my wifes C Class just ain't cutting it

If a garage doesn't want to for whatever reason retail a car that they get in px, they offer it to their group of traders, but also regularly put 'out of the ordinary' cars for sale in auctions, relying on the hope that they will get more at auction than one of their regular traders will pay them for it. A big player like Inchape will not pay a great deal in entry fees, and the fees that a established buyer like Oscar Goldman would pay the Auction on a purchase such as this will only be several hundred (certainly less than £500 with his account status). Oscar Goldman will have no doubt paid over the CAP price for it as it is a relative rarity at auction - whether he paid as much as he claims is questionable. I'm also surprised that Auto Prestige didn't end up with it as they are only 'round the corner' relatively (assuming they were even interested in it that is).
At the end of the day, if it's the right car for you, then it's worth spending a little more for it, than ending up with a car that may have cost you a little less, but you're not 100% with. After all, good ones are becoming harder to find as we all know....

I'd love to know if Oscar travelled all that way to bid or did it online?
While the appraisals have improved of late I would never buy a car like this without physically seeing it.
