OK,
Went to see it. 1 owner, very clean and tidy with a few niggles: Centre armrest needs replacing, Clip that locks the 'hazard' triangle in the boot needs replacing, wheels need a refurb, flaps rattle when not in sport mode, bolsters worn on drivers side, front discs lipped, RS4 logo on the steering wheel looks a mess, tailpipes looked like they'd never been cleaned.
It DOES have SS+ and looked rather sexy.

Oscar said he'd do the wheels, hazard clip, armrest.

Verdict - I'll stew on what to offer him.

Nothing too major then.

Bolster's are a pain, aren't they. Mine's a bit knackered now and that's just from me driving and treating it with kid gloves.
(I think the stitching's in the wrong place for such a vulnerable piece.)

All the rest sounds easy to sort. Did you get to drive it?

Edit: Thought I we were still commenting on the black one. Get them to sort the discs too, they're still got loads of profit left in there.

Nope

(you can get the steering-wheel logo's on their own... I picked one up the other week for much cheaper than the whole silver piece)

I went there expecting an car well looked after for 1 owner, that mileage and price. Mine was 4 owner, 58k miles and in far better condition. The amount of owners counts for bugger all in my book.

No, didn't have time today so will mull it over and if I'm interested go back later in the week. It's only 10 minutes from my work.

I can't believe it was that rough. Pics can be so deceiving. Even the bolsters looked good in the pics. What do we reckon then, 26-27k?

Ps...don't worry about a car not having ss+ shagga. I've very recently had h&r springs installed and are better in all ways compared to a ss+. I hope to do a write up on it tonight or Tomorr; look out for it

Thanks Kay. Tim posted about H&R? No DRC issues? Where did you get it done and was it just springs?

Compared to some of the old dogs I looked at 2 years ago this is mint and someone will snap it up I'm sure. It had dry water marks all over it which never helps and it would be nice to see it after a clean.

I'd probably offer him £26k with ALL of the work done on it.

This particular car was for sale in British Car Auctions at Brighouse approx. 4 weeks ago - from memory it was put in by Inchape, so it was presumably a trade in from them. It had been on a private plate when traded in. Trade / book price (CAP) then was approx. £22,500. Didn't see it in the flesh - just the entry details and photos prior to the auction - looked quite genuine at the time, but unfortunately couldn't get over to the auction. I was interested because it was an Avant, one owner, sensible miles with a good service history, in Daytona and had black optics - although I may have made more of an effort if it had Recaros instead of buckets (just my preference, that's all!!!)

Forget all that, I wouldn't buy it because HE'S SHOUTING in the advert!

I am surprised that very few cars get their bolsters smartened up by a smart repairer.
There is one in Birmingham/Solihull who has done my 996 C4S sports seat, I did 2k miles in it within a week, 30 hrs of driving and it still looks perfect.
As long as they aren't holed he can do wonders for well under the £100.
Funnily enough he does the Audi and Porsche main dealers.

As D_K says, don't pay over the odds.

Offered him £25k yesterday with all the work done and not heard back (which I expected). I agree DK. They all say 'I paid strong money for that, there's no money in it for me' which crack's me up. I've been in sales nearly 20 years and heard it all before.

Nice info Johnny, gives me more bargaining power should I pursue it.

Cheers all.
