Sorry lads - cannot abide negativity, especially when it cannot be supported by the facts.
I suppose I'm an optimist by nature.

100% agree - so why are you so intent on making me change my opinions?F@tBoyF@t wrote:Everyone is entitled to their opinion - isn't that what a forum is all about?
P.S. You won't succeed

Cracking post there.F@tBoyF@t wrote:Lest we forget - Kacher has actually driven/thrashed the B8 RS4 - (with DRC) - PetrolDave has not.535dboy wrote:Interesting reading.
These things are always so personal though aren't they. As long as I like it then I'm happy, and I am confident that it will be good enough for me. I have a minor concern over the steering and ride but it shouldn't be enough to dilute my enjoyment of it
I haven't read a bad word about the Porsche other than the stupid coasting function which autocar and Harris have picked up on. I agree with them both and it switches off when in sport or sport plus. Given I drive it 95% of the time in sport plus mode then it doesn't bother me. It is a cracking car and dare I say it night and day better than our mk 2 V6 TT was.
So whose opinion should we take more notice of until we all have the opportunity to drive the car?
Lots of people know the price of everything but the value of nothing.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion - isn't that what a forum is all about?
I'm sure that you'll be absolutely delighted with your new purchase.
Bring it on......
Congratulations - a great choice IMHO
Ian
I think I said something similar to all the haters about not even having driven it yet in the B7 forum.
I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Saw it at the Festival of Speed, was unmoved - not aggressive enough for an RS, too similar looking to an S4 or even an A4.Nickyboy wrote:I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

It does look different and will be noticeable like a B7. To me it will be more obvious than an M5 over an M sport.

Re: It is now officially ordered .....
Funny how one positive piece of automative journalism now makes the car credible amongst nearly all the other luke warm ones of note.
And B8 RS4 haters? Bit strong really. It bothers me that to get the best out of the chassis you have to be doing bonkers speed whereas the B7 seemed to excel at all but the extremities. How often are you B8 'lovers' looking to get the best out of your chassis going to be able to do that on normal roads somewhere near the speed limits of those particular roads? And 535dboy is right, his tank will be half full or empty most of the time because to eek that performance out it isn't going to be doing 25. something mpg whilst doing that. But if he and every other B8 owner is happy to pay their money for that type of car, then best of luck to them.
As for me and I suspect a number of other B7 owners for various reasons, we will not be changing as the cost implication of doing so for an equal if at best a little bit better a car in these times (and maybe age of life) just doesn't make sense. It's three main advantages in my eyes for my driving ability is s-Tronic, newer car plus parts and interior if that is a priority but to stump up £50K+? Maybe if I had it to burn, but I don't so I won't.

I hope to be in a V10 powered mid engined German supercar like you by then D_K. I doubt I'll have done 200k miles by the time B8's are £30k mind, that would be some going even for me!D_K wrote:yes but you know you will when they are £30k and yours is falling to pieces having covered 200k
