Where to start....?

Well i suppose we could start with the Fords. Having a passion for cars from when i passed my test at 17 and growing more and more interested and attached as a hobby to cars i moved on from the smaller engined stuff at 19 when i went out and got my first real performance car being the MK1 Focus RS...

Owned this car 3 years spent a fortune basically ended up stripping it and rebuilding with all freshly powder coated suspensions and running gear. Engine was also rebuilt and spec'd to run 500bhp. Due to loosing my job at the time due to the recession something had to give so the car had to be sold! The thread can be seen here...

after spending a year getting back on my feat i was at a track day at Cadwell park and went out in a E46 M3 CSL i decided enough was enough and was on the look out for another performance car and settled on a E46 M3 i found one and the deal was done...

ended up getting it to how i wanted in the 2 years of ownership to the point i was struggling for other stuff to do without wasting serious money and with the interior of the car starting to show the age of the car and technology falling behind and shocking brakes i decided enough was enough and sold up! was a good 2 years though :)

I was stuck for what next and it wasn't until i went to a track day again at Cadwell park (that place has cost me some money) i saw the RS4 and it became a possibility. Started looking at them and it was between black and Daytona Grey and after seeing this fellow enthusiasts at Cadwell my mind was made up and i waited over a month without a car before i found the one up in Edinburgh 5 hours away! but what a drive home!!

The inspiration to make me want one! sounds awesome mate i have seen you lurking on here :beerchug:

Owned the car over 3 weeks now and to say im happy is an understatement!! What a car!! defiantly mate the right choice and as much as people were telling me to sway to the E9X M3 it just didn't do anything for me in looks or interior was just a glorified E46 with a price tag which didn't justify what you get. RS4 with 8pot brakes, carbon, bucket seats, one of if not the best sounding production V8? I will be around for time to come and look forward to getting to knowing some of you better :kissmyrings:

Had mine a year now and still loving it, true about the great sounding engine too 8)

Well done youngben. Uve got urself a very well specced neat rs4 there. Is there anything it doesn't have lol. Looks like ur good with a spanner too...useful. Sounds as if ur from the Manchester/Birmingham area if it took u 5 hrs to get to Edinburgh......close to unit 20, that would be handy.

That letter/number spacing is so far away from the legally required spacing it's just a matter of time before you get pulled.

Nice little write up. 500bhp through the front wheels of that focus. How did that torque steer and wheel spin?

Thankyou was well happy with the spec! i only asked for Daytona Grey with carbon and bucket seats so the rest was a bonus! Yeh not shy on a spanner and will be doing my own decoke :) im down in Worcester west mids 20mins from Birmingham :)

I have seen a lot lot worse on the road! only thing illegal is 1 space its the correct lettering and size of lettering! think police are more worried about stuff you cant read or letters made to look like something there not! if anything the personal plate has made it easier to remember than harder to read :thumb:

its on the list to come along with MRC stage 2 and ported inlet and a few other touches i want to do like take lenses out of indicators and put in snorkel for inlet and close bumper gap.... Making a list of stuff i want to do that requires taking off the bumper and going to do it in one hit!

Haha yeh i did take the M3 there now you mention it! was with all the focus rs lads as you may of gathered! The RS4 sounds amazing and we still bring it up in convo to this day! i tried to find a thread with more info on your car but with no luck? have you got one? Yes she is thirsty but not as bad as i thought it would be lol

the car seems to get better wit more power beleive it or not! i never finnished mine but know of 2 lads 1 is running 500bhp and the other is 550bhp and both are animals but handle it well!

Happy days Ben. I dont have a build thread, I should do...I have more build threads going on my Clio then I do the RS, however I have documented all my mods in threads. Maybe I should get them all together in a thread.

I used to have a mk4 Astra gsi running 340 bhp and 365lbft torque via a Garett turbo, with the quaffe diff it actually coped pretty well, now that was a fun sleeper car :twisted: guess it's what you are used to.

After owning the rs though I am not sure I could go back from quattro :roll: the grip in all conditions is outstanding :kissmyrings:

Sorry for odd question, but in this picture.. 1) where is that axle stand placed on the rear? and 2) it looks like the front axle stand is on the rubber jack pad, so where did you place the jack to lift it? I've got a set of stands but not used em yet.

Yeh the diff is the key on a FWD car with such power makes the world of difference! love the Mk4's my mate has one with all cosworth internals and it looks and goes well!!

I miss the low down torque of the turbo and the noise but i love the sound of a V8 at 8k rpm even more :jump_clap: they handle very well and i love everything about the RS4 just needs a couple of updates to bring it to date (LED lights mainly. transforms the car).

I have a low entry high lift jack! if i remember rightly i jacked up on the rear jack point and it picked up the front enough too. Enough to get 2 axle stands under! the axle on the rear is underneath the rear wishbone.
