I've only ever used it once when I got the car to see what it was, visibility is crap with it up.

That's for dogs? I thought it was just to stop things flying forward.

I thought the dog thing was a solid metal grill thing.

Only paid it Monday, had the car back Friday. I'm clearly very trustable. Is trustable a word? I dunno.

Technically that's a standard fitment load retention net. It lets you pack luggage to the roof. It's not designed to stop 8 stone of Japanese Akita breaking your neck.

However that's the net I used when my dog was still around and I always got on fine with it.

There is a proper dog guard available but it's a PITA to instal and then remove when you need the seats folded fwd hence my laziness and coping with the retention net.

I've got a metal dog guard that came with my car which I don't use. It fits over the rear seat locking mechanism, and if I remember correctly, is easy enough to fit and remove. Not sure if it's genuine Audi, but fits well and is very strong.
If its any use to anyone and you can collect it from either Oxted or West Wickham, let me know.

Correct I hate it when every one calls it a dog guard when it's only a luggage guard!!!!!!!!

I've got an extra guard in the boot - it even comes in its own fold up long pouch. It's says it's a cargo net but it's pretty hefty. Not quite sure how it fits together yet.

I wonder how effective this luggage guard would actually be in the event of an accident?

I think that is is designed to also work when the rear seats are folded down, and it'll clip into the 2nd set of locating lugs in the roof-lining just behind the front seats.

I haven't tried it yet, but if the guard stretches this far, unless it has some kind of seatbelt-type locking mechanism when put under a quick, heavy load, it'll let a stray suitcase fly forward at least as far as a few cm behind the heads of the front seat occupants? Good luck rear-seat passengers in this scenario!

The first time I tried to fit this in the 1st set of lugs, took me a good 10 mins of pushing and shoving before I realised the metal end-clips are spring-loaded to help location into the lugs!
