Heads were enroute back to them fully clean and re seated
They seem to think that if heads turned up later this afternoon that my car would be ready to collect Friday pm. Judging by the state of disassembly of it currently, I think that's a big ask ;
Wonder how many bits they'll have left over?
Haha, don't say that !!
I had a long chat with the guy who's doing the work (he was doing an R8 at the time) and he seemed to really know his stuff and was certainly experienced in RS cars
Confidence of a good job is high, confidence of them rebuilding the engine and getting it back in ready for the weekend is a little lower

If you honestly don't think it'll be ready for Friday, I'd be inclined to tell them not to try, tell them you're busy and can't collect it anyway or something. I've had garages rush stuff before trying to meet 'deadlines' and it never ends well.

I had a similar thought and asked them to have it ready for Tuesday
Be interesting to see how many miles they rag it around for on the 'test drive'
Looking forward to getting it back though, it's been over a month

Wise choice I think.

As for ragging it, I don't think you need worry with it being a dealer, I'm sure they've driven stuff like it before, if you'd taken it to an indie then I'd be worried.

You are kidding on aren't you? Main dealers are the worst for ragging your car

Ah, my bad, what I did was apply common sense, I should by know that's a silly thing to do.

I got the call yesterday saying it'd be ready to collect today
They said they're planning a 50-100 mile test drive today to check everything's ok, so I might see if I can get along on that
I've met the guy doing the work and he seems a decent bloke, so it'll be a good chance to pick his brains on things anyway
I'm looking forward to getting it back as its been well over a month now

Erm, phoned in advance of collecting it just in case
Car not ready as although complete on Monday, hadn't yet been test driven and they want the master tech that did the work to do the test drive (he's on a training course today !)

Doesnt it really p%ss you off that they dont keep you informed? Comms has been the biggest gripe with my local dealer, theyve missed jobs of mine purely because no ones ever avail and they DONT call back as promised,it seems ages ago you bought it i cant believe its not sorted yet!

Yeah, they mean well and they're doing this without me paying, so I shouldn't be too p'd off really, but comminication's not their strongest asset.
It wouldn't be too bad, but they insisted on needing it a certain time and day and then the car just sat for over a week before they even touched it.
I wish I'd have known it was going to take nearly 6wks as I could've put my insurance on hold
Oh well, it's 2.5k miles on their courtesy car that arn't on my RS
Here's hoping its going to be a massive improvement :)
