Footlong, if you can get me an OE paddle I will see if I can model it up in CAD and get some quotes to get some made from my guys.

I might be able to get an oem paddel to you in a weeks time if your still wanting one. Should have had my spare steering wheel trimmed by then so can strip the one thats on the car

Ferfick. I went hunting quickly yesterday but was fast reaching the opinion that the only real way to do it was going to be to cannibalize a steering wheel. Went off looking for one but put about 30 seconds effort in to it to be perfectly honest. I would that to keep it as straighforward as possible you will need to send both paddles as although chances are that the left will be a symmetrical mirror of the right one intenally and externally, you won't know until you remove both anyway. Look at the machining below if you don;t follow what I am waffling on about:

Without a much higher res picture there, it almost looks to me like these can be physically popped in/out of place but I am not currently willing to try that theory unless I get bored.

Yes, that was my understanding of the system, also. There was a US company selling one that looked exactly like your photo (might even be that one) but who doesn't make them any more. Definitely need the clip on ones. Can't be gluing stuff.

Do they have to be in aluminium? What about injection moulding?

Thanks Rob, I don't see those popping off like I thought. Looks like a pin/rod goes through the middle, unless it is something that just grabs either side of the hole.

Its just one screw to undo then just make sure the spring stays where it is when removing it, it really is that easy to remove, when i took the plastic paddles to a engineering company they said also it would be hard to reproduce them cheaply they quoted over £400 just for the tooling, but i was always under the impression that there was a machine out there and you just pop the part in that you wanted to reproduce and hey presto in came out as a exact copy, or am i talking crap here, i am sure i have seen a video of it working somewhere

Yeah, I could get them SLS easily enough, but they would be plastic. If there was a demand, and plastic was OK, then I could get an injection mould made up.

Upon reflection, I think anodised aluminium will give the best finish. I think a decent CNC mill will be able to produce the parts easily enough.
