dynamic ride control

hyrolically linked dampners which adjust to avoid pitch and roll

dynamic steering changes the weight and lock of the steering depending on speed - i.e. not natural

So does it already have adaptive/variable suspension without this option?

I'm not bothered about steering option if I have to spec items separately becaus of the wheels!

Get the spec wrong on one of these and it could be costly come resale. If it turns out the car is much better with the DRC option then any cars without it will be hard to shift. It is the same with the R8, the cars without Magnetic ride are a nightmare to shift I'm led to believe.

Balanced review by Harris. Basically the chassis is there when wrung out, unlike the B7. However, there is no get up and go at the other end, unlike the B7. Perhaps it's chassis is too competent for the engine/torque. Sounds to me like it would have benefited from the extra oommph provided by the S6 bi-turbo engine. Maybe a RS4+ in the future?

Sounds like it needs a bit of MRC treatment to put it right but after spending that much on a new car a) you shouldn't have to 'put it right' and b) wave goodbye to the warranty.

I'm still in love with my B7 - one day I WILL buy it back!

I've changed my ideals on this one...

Some good ideas there...

Keep the Avant shape as the only body style...

Non adjustable (working) DRC suspension, just make it really fluid - breathing with the road surface, keep the S-tronic with rifle bolt precision changes, non adjustable steering, razor sharp turn in and rear end adjustable on the throttle...

And add a couple of turbos or simply as muchpower as one of those loony Merc C63AMGs to it to ensure the power can overcome the chassis...

And my own addition for a really pukka Avant drive able in all conditions....

(drum roll)

Adjustable brake bias.

Couldn't agree more.

LOL
Harm them in what way? I'm pretty sure Audi will follow up a record 2011 with a record 2012 and a low volume model succeeding or not won't really have an impact

Times move on....as good as the B7 is...stop living in the past.

I like it...it WILL look good in the flesh..the technology is far better than the dated B7...End of.

Loads of great options to choose from.

It will be just as quick if not a little quicker than a standard B7.

What car is there better that you can use every day in this rain soaked congested country than a RS4 of any type..B5 B7 B8????...They all have strengths and weaknesses...but as a all rounder all three types are great for fast driving in Britain.

In time tuning companies will improve as they have with the B7.

When have most people took any notice of what jornos think?..Certainly not me......buy a car because YOU like it...

NO has even seen one in the flesh yet(maybe one or two) let alone driven one....i kinda agree Audi maybe should have looked at a different engine option but they havent so it is what it is...a screeming V8 that in the B7 we all love..whats changed?

Im more than happy with my C6 RS6..HOWEVER...in the future i will change again...and i would seriuosly consider a second hand B8.

So to sum it up i love Audis and as ever i love this one.......cant wait to see my first one in the flesh.......Its 2012 not 2005 times move on as the RS4 has...give it a chance FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah now you see - there's a key statement.
'I'd seriously consider one secondhand'.
That's no good to Audi. Plenty of people on here had their (and still do) b7 from sparkly new.
Those are the people who's opinion matter to Audi.

I would consider one second hand....as i cant afford a new one..however as always there will be a waiting list and no discounts...thats a fact....Audi will sell them no problem....recession or not??

I bet a lot of people thought the same about the B7...and a look through the posts from years ago tells me that there was outrage abouit Audi using a N/A V8 after the bi turbo B5????......Them thoughts soon disappeared after a while??....when the B7 found its feet...i think the same will happen with the B8.

Possibly... But the b7 did something no body expected - it was an all round match for the m3 at the time.
The b8 is entering a crowded market place with high expectations. It's one of the reasons I think the rs5 struggled.
