S4 - great time to buy !

Post by Carps » Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:40 pm

What the hell has happened to the S4 in the last couple of months ? Prices have plummetted from what I can see, and even nice facelift models are struggling around the £13k mark.
I can't imagine it is due to the new S4, as it is a different beast and the price difference is too great. The RS4 hasn't dropped low enough for that to be the reason either.
And just to compound the problem, there seem to be loads around at the moment.

Weird...

I'd say that it's due to them coming out of the (extended) factory warranty. At 5 years the Audi warranty just isn't worth it.

Well that sounds good to me! I'm still looking for one. What would I expect to pay for a 3-4 year old s4?

Not so sure about the prices Carps, I did a national search on Autotrader and the prices range from £ 10 k to £ 20k, with decent facelift models listed around 15-18k.

They will be selling below these prices, obviously but I reckon they are still worth more that £13k.

At least, I hope they are :D

The bottom's dropped out of the market at the moment, it's not just s4's.

yes there are a number of RS4s appearing now in the lower £30k territory - albeit some with higher miles.

hmm tempting...
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

...but be realistic - the maintenance costs for an RS4 are higher and based on the 'straw poll' of people on this site, there are still reliability issues.
