So to drag up the same old issue  - it would seem that after my recent trip to the dealer for alternator service discs and fluids etc that they didnt solve the very slight knocking noise from my offside front. This morning after another little trip out with the master tech he thinks it could be the DRC loosing pressure ( although not a lot) and proving to be the fault..... He has offered I leave the car with them ( Newbury) for a day and they do a full presure check and if it is the main valves etc then 900 plus etc etc......Now I had all 4 replaced in Oct 10 ago by Camberley (receipts etc to hand but some of the work was done FOC) to which I assume this still has a two year warranty on the work done.... without stating the obvious help me out with the logical approach gents.... :? should I give Rob a call now and book it in to be looked at by them? baring in mind its an hours drive, or let Newbury have a butchers first and then take it to Rob with their diognosis? ...

Also Im tempted by the coilovers but before I make decisons I wanted to keep the car as much to stock mechanically as possible.. What would the rough cost be to have Pss9's fitted say by MRC in your guys previous experience? You see I quite like the ride on this sports suspension on the Plus and in theory the DRC when working is pretty good. I had the SS+ before on the B7 and it too was good so Im worried the Bilsteins are to harsh and Im not overly worried about ability of adjustment.

Can't comment on the DRC and your rattle.

However I replaced my DRC with a set of FK coilovers, like you I had no need for adjustment so looked at all of the kits out there. The kit cost me about £600 direct from Germany and MRC fitted it for about an hours labour, I've not looked back since. The ride is firm but not uncomfy, even the wife's happy with the ride quality. So it can't be to bad at all. As for keeping the car standard, mine is just a little lower than when on DRC but I'm happy with that.

Here's how mine looks, not the greatest picture.

An hours labour!? I would have thought it be 3-4 hours at least.

mmm Im already tempted with that sort of cost ... I def wouldnt mind the ride being a little lower for sure as long as Im not getting any clearance issues. I have no intent on tacking the car seriously and im told old for all this "get it slammed" nonsense. Im simply getting the car in its best possible shape and enjoying it and if I sell it I want it in good attractive nick.

Amar how have you got on with your coilovers I remember you complaning it was very harsh?

Mev
If Camberley already have history with the area of concern on your car, I'd definately say the 1hr trip is worthwhile to ensure it's dealt with properly.
I have never had DRC, but I can say that I'm very pleased with the Bilstein PSS9's on my car ; I believe Bilstein also offer an non adjustable version ( which are a fair bit cheaper ) - This could be an option for you
Good luck

This is all very much a guess, but I believe the adjustable Bilsteins are £1500ish and the non-adj. are £900 ???
Again, an estimate would be 3hrs to fit...maybe 4 (assuming a full geometry check done also).

Just had a chat with Rob at Camberly - top bloke remembers the car and its history which really helps and the work previously done so happy to have a look - booked me a courtesy car for 3 days just in case. I guess we see what the issue is first and then make a call. Im personally still not 100 % convinced on coilvers after this chat with him..... but happy to continue with the debate for the time being!

Once your DRC is out of warranty it's a no brainer going for coilovers, so stick with the DRC as long as they fix it for free :)

Yeah thats the plan I think but as long as I can get it within the 2 year slots of each replacement.... :) I prob need o have a ride in a coilover car as well as I am quite happy with how the drc has worked over the years. I think in both theory and when working its a great bit of kit and I believe there is one or two fans still about.....

BTW Paul hope you got that wiper blade ok? Ive got the other one. Cheers

I drove my mate's B7 on SS+ and mine on PSS9 back to back and the ride is so similar it's spooky. Exactly the same comfort and compliance.
