complete OEM b7 are 12.06 kg LOBA/AP are around 8.7 kg so a total saving on pair around 6.72KG

i did take a photo today (see bellow) but i took a pic of our TTRS upgrade disc/bell on scales by mistake, the LOBA B7 bell is 60grams lighter but uses same AP rotor , ill try to get correct pic tomorrow of b7 on scales and give exact saving !

Cutting the lawns has taken priority over the car but had a family wedding in Oxford last week 5 up went via MK plenty of roundabouts and the loba brakes were so much more effective than the oem discs I have no regrets swapping to them. I do think it also handles better. I will post about them after my trip to see my German family. Well I have a few bushes to trim.

Have to say and plenty of people said it too but "damn"... they look stunning.
I've seen and used plenty of oem and aftermarket brake setups and I'm confident to say I don't recall any of them looking so good. Both from a raw asthetic and machining point of view.
They look so crisp and perfect that I'd say that they were 3d generated models if it weren't for the fact people have them! ;-)

Seriously though - if they work half as good as they look then they'll be stunning!

My pads and discs are 25k old and looking like they'll be my first choice.
I've no idea if already covered, but would you have any recommendation as to the choice of pad? Yellow Stuff?

Shame there's no rear one even if no major gain over oem - I do like collars and cuffs to match ;-)

imo Ferodo ds2500 pads are good choice as a all-rounder and tested, you could use yellow stuff if you prefer, if you want to retain the pad wear sensors as terry did then rs6 c5 OEM pad is good option

the trouble with the rears is the calliper don't give any options to rotors as OEM rear disc are so thin ...we can do rear rotors and r8 calliper to match fronts but is costly

Just posted a new section onto my site http://www.mdracing.co.uk about these superb LOBA discs - writeup and pics below :)

Fitting LOBA Front Brake Discs - 14/08/12

One of the areas I felt was lacking with the RS4, and clearly not up to scratch, were the brakes. I'd fitted a full set of B7 RS4 front & rear brakes with EBC Yellow Stuff pads almost a year ago now and whilst they were a superb improvement ove the OEM B5 RS4 brakes they just didn't feel 'that' good. This was really highlighted by a few track outings this year where after the first one I ditched the EBC's and went for some Ferodo DS2500 which are pricey but a big improvement over the EBC's. Then the last outing at Combe (which was the first with the DS2500's) the brakes felt better but still didn't feel amazing and wondering around the pits seeing many other VAG based cars with the same 8-pot caliper fitted I figured they can't be THAT bad!

Then I got chatting with Si about the LOBA B7 RS4 discs as seen here http://www.loba-motorsport.com/en/produ ... sc-upgrade. They sounded great, properly thought out and with PROPER venting rather than the terrible venting the OEM discs have (see picture below of a comparison!) and a weight saving over OEM as well. They are, however, not cheap coming in at €1250 a pair BUT when you need new discs LOBA will sell you just the new rotors rather than the entire discs like Audi, so over time they would work out about the same.

So I decided to give them a go and they arrived in super quick time. On unwrapping they look superb and the engineering of the bells is very tasty indeed. Fitting is straight forward so I won't go into that but I did weigh one of the OEM discs (10.5kg) and one of the new LOBA discs (8.6kg) so a good saving there. LOBA do list the weight of the OEM disc as 12.5kg (and have provided a picture of one on scales) so I assume mine were lighter due to them being used (and skimmed a while back).

With them fitted the real test for them would be Donington on the 17th August, just 3 days after they were fitted.

First Trackday with LOBA Discs - 17/08/12

Having now given the RS4 some proper stick at Donington Park and have to say the discs have TRANSFORMED the braking. They are stunning now, absolutely ZERO fad after many laps of the circuit and the bite with the DS2500's and the LOBA discs is spot on. I took my friend out in it for a few laps and after the first warm up lap and coming into the first corner (Redgate) his words were "Jesus those brakes are good!" as he didn't think we were going to slow down in time to turn in! He drives a 250bhp Type-R powered Elise so is used to a car that brakes well.

So, if you ever track your car and have the B7 RS4 brakes fitted then it's a no brainer to get these LOBA discs in my opinion. Yes it's a bit of an outlay for a pair of discs but once fitted you'll be seriously glad you did :)
